Bible Study: God's Purpose

God's Purpose 07.31.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Thursday July 31, 2008 and today we are completing our studies on the book of Ecclesiastes. Please read Chapters 9-12 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ecclesiates%209-12&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the struggles of the righteous and the wicked; that wisdom is better than strength; the wise versus the foolish; and the remembering our creator. Today's message focuses on the purpose God created us for.

"Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment." (Ecclesiastes 11:9). Solomon was famous for his wisdom, but he could be misunderstood if he implied that he was encouraging youth to let passion and pleasure go unchecked, but he reminds us that God will judge all that we do.

Solomon spent his lifetime searching for pleasure from every worldly source, but he used the word vanity over 30 times in the Book of Ecclesiastes and concluded that ignoring the Word of God was the vanity of vanities. Before finishing his message, Solomon restated the basis for true wisdom, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." (12:13-14).

Since all of us were created for the purposes of God, all else in life should be seen as opportunities to advance the Kingdom of God by fulfilling those purposes. Satisfaction in life results from giving one's time, talents, and resources to fulfill the will of God. This is the only true source of happiness, peace of mind, and genuine enjoyment in life. Once we place God at the center of all that we do everything falls into place and we become prosperous in all that we do and even during trials we find enjoyment.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the statement: God shall bring every work into judgment (Ecclesiastes 12:14). Jesus will judge all, "For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:" (John 5:22).

Have a great and wonderful afternoon and day!
God bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Hypocrisy

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Wednesday July 30, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Ecclesiastes. Please read Chapters 5-8 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to yoyr browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ecclesiates%205-8&version=9

Today we will read and learn about cautions against hasty vows; the emptiness of riches; the encouragement of wisdom and goodness; and respect for rulers. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that hypocrisy is an insult to God, as well as spiritually self-destructive.

The Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream in which Solomon asked for wisdom. (See II Chronicles 1:7-11). Yet, we have no record that Solomon ever copied the Law by his own hand, as God had instructed Israel's kings to do, and he also broke all of the laws specifically given to kings (See Deuteronomy 17:14-20). As the years passed, he searched for satisfaction everywhere except from the Lord and His Word where it should have. Years later Solomon discovered that the rich and poor were equally obsessed with such fruitless endeavors and the only way to be fruitful is to have the Lord in their lives.

Solomon's thoughts then turned from the secular to the religious life, and he noted that many attended the House of God offering insincere prayers and making vows that were never kept. "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few." (Ecclesiastes 5:1-2). "

The word hypocrisy means to falsely claim of having admirable principles, beliefs, or feelings toward God. It may seem as if God did not hear the groanings of the innocent or see the hypocrisy of the evildoers who intrude into the sanctuary of God. "All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt. And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity." (8:9-10). However, He knew exactly what was going on and always has a meaning for allowing affliction to happen in our lives.

Often God does not immediately intervene or bring His judgment. Not only during life, but even in death itself, the wicked are often praised and buried with all the inappropriate recognition of their popularity. Yet, with all the flare, visibility, and demonstrations of these external appearances which are carried on even to the grave, they failed to deceive either God or a person who has spiritual and biblical knowledge. "When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:). Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea farther; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it." (8:16-17).

The Psalmist reminds us, "Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." (37:1-4).

While the course of life seems to run smoothly for those who live for the world instead of God the sinner begins to imagine that God is indifferent and not necessary. Even Christians, ignorant of God's Word, are staggered by the delay of Divine justice to inflict penalty for the wicked sins of mankind, but the judgment which God's Law attaches to sin is not an empty threat. "Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting." (Galatians 6:6-7).

The seemingly successful course of sin will have an end, for none have final success. "There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt. But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand. As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand." (5:13-15)

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the One who expects us to keep our vows made to Him. (Ecclesiastes 5:4). "But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." (Matthew 5:37).

Enjoy the rest of your day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Filling The Void

Filling The Void 07.29.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday July 29, 2008 and today we are beginning our studies on the book of Ecclesiastes. Please read Chapters 1-4 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ecclesiates%201-4&version=9

The book of Ecclesiastes is the twentifirst book of the Old Testament and contains 12 chapters. The book was written by King Solomon to Israel and all believers in general with a special emphasis towards the youth. The purpose of the book is to show all that a life apart from God is never satisfying and will always leave us searching for more to fill the void.

Today we will read and learn about the vanity (emptiness) of living for pleasure and material gain; that there is a reason for everything; and the varied proverbs of wisdom. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that no matter how many possesions we have or people we know all is vanity without God.

It would be easy to be impressed by the achievements of Solomon. He wrote of the many possessions that he had. "I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards: I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits: I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees: I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me: I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me." (Ecclesiastes 2:4-9). The key word here is me. Solomon did all of these things for himself. With each increasing excess, he found less and less pleasure in what he got and was always wanting more.

Solomon's adventure in search of satisfaction apart from God ended in moral and spiritual disaster. Eventually he declared, "Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun. And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that cometh after the king? even that which hath been already done." (2:11-12). The word vanity means that all is superficial or empty, the word vexation means to face displeasure or an annoyance which means that Solomon declared that without God all his possessions were superficial and displeasing.

Sadly, many today are still trying to gain fulfillment with earthly pursuits while ignoring the will of God. If only they realize their want for more to possess is merely a need for God. The wisest man on earth tried to substitute man's limited knowledge for the limitless wisdom of God in order to gain satisfaction and popularity. He only succeeded in avoiding God's best for himself as well as for his kingdom.

Solomon assumed that his vast material wealth was great not realizing that spiritually he was a beggar. Worldly greatness is deceptive in that men imagine that they will eventually reach satisfaction, but their empty souls always desire more.

Each of us needs to consider what God's purpose is for our brief lives here on earth. Are we doing things to satisfy our own needs or are we following the path that God has chosen for us. We were not created to become satisfied with the things that were set before us, but to become the person He desires us to be and to accomplish His purpose for our lives. This is not merely a decision we make in a moment, but one that determines a lifetime and eternity. Remember, God blesses all who will put Him first. "(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:32-33).

In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed through God, the true source of wisdom, and knowledge, and joy. (Ecclesiastes 2:26). "For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ." (I Corinthians 2:16).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
As we diligently labor for You it is not to bring attention to ourselves, but it is to bring glory to Your name and further the kingdom of God. Help us to find our place of Christian service where we can develop our gifts and expend our labors for building up the body of Christ. In Jesus' name....Amen.

Have a great and wonderful day!
God bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Developing a Lasting Relationship

Develop A Lasting Relationship 07.28.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Monday July 28, 2008 and today we are completing our studies on the book of Proverbs. Please read Chapters 27-31 in your Bible ot Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2027-31&version=9

Today we will read and learn about advice given to the wise; Agur's confession of his faith; the words of King Lemuel; and the praise of a good wife. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that our activities should not dishonor the Lord.

If we love someone, we want to be with them and to know what pleases them so that we can develop a lasting relationship. We also want to know what they dislike so that we can avoid words or actions that would displease them. Surely, this should also be an important consideration in our relationship with our Lord as well. "Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things. Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich. Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father. He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor." (Proverbs 28:5-8).   How can God be attentive to what we have to say if we are not interested in learning what God likes and dislikes about the things that we do. That is why it is so important to learn God's Word, He even tells us how we are to pray so that we are not asking for something that will cause harm to ourselves or others. "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination." (28:9).   We can not ask God for things that go against His teaching. "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight." (I John 3:18-22).   The Book ends by describing the virtuous woman, "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life." (31:10-12). The admirable description of the virtuous woman (31:10-31) sets a standard that most Christian wives and mothers pray they can live up to, but there is an underlying behavior pattern here which outlines what God is looking for from all of us, to be godly.   Godly people are to have a heart of compassion and show it through deeds of mercy, even the clothes we wear have an impact on our relationship with God. "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace." (James 3:17-18).   The conclusion is that all of us, men and women alike, will be greatly blessed because we fear (respect) the Lord. "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength." (Proverbs 8:13-14).   In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the One who ascended to and descended from heaven (Proverbs 30:4). Jesus is the only one that ascended to and descended from heaven. "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven." (John 3:13).   Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Today, we choose not to live according to our sinful nature that will lead to dishonoring You, we choose to live by Your Spirit that leads to a hope filled life here on earth and for all eternity. Help us in our daily struggles that tempt us to wander from You and keep our hearts in oneness with You. In Jesus' name.....Amen.   Have a great day and week! God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Seeking Revenge

Seeking Revenge 07.27.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Sunday July 27, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Proverbs. Please read Chapters 23-26 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2023-26&version=9

Today we will read and learn about moral, ethical, and spiritual teachings and the excellence of wisdom. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that revenge is not the answer. It is because God has mercy on us that we should be quick to be merciful to others and not seek revenge on those who wronged us.

It seems normal to stand up for our rights and to fight back against those who have wronged us or to get even by causing similar suffering upon them, but, it is a serious sin to be delighted when an enemy suffers or seems to reap what we think he deserves. It is even more serious to harbor a secret hatred and a desire to bring about his downfall. "Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him. Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked: For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out." (Proverbs 24:17-20).

Attitudes of bitterness, revenge, hatred, or ill will toward anyone are self destructive and are indications that we are not living nearly as close to Christ as we should. No matter how much we think that getting revenge will make us feel better the truth is unless we have a right relationship with God we will never be at peace. We are not to regard anyone as an enemy, since we were all created in the image of God and Christ died to save all of us without an exception. Instead we need to pray for the person and forgive them because it is by doing so that God himself will intervene and take care of them for you. "If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee." (25:21-22).

In  time our enemies may become disciples of Christ and our brothers and sisters in Him. No one is justified in taking revenge and we are definitely not qualified to be judge, jury, or executioner of anyone's life. We dare not assume the position of God, "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:18-21).

All thoughts of hatred and revenge are temptations of Satan, but the indwelling Holy Spirit will enable the Christian to reject them and be merciful and forgiving rather than hateful toward all who wronged us. No one has been wronged like Jesus, imagine what He went through as He endured such a painful death for our own sins, but instead of seeking revenge He prayed for His enemies, "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34a). Jesus in the end saw victory as He rose from the dead and rest assure all who have been wronged will see victory as long as they put their faith and trust in Him.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the One who rewards those who repay evil with good. (Proverbs 25: 21-22). Jesus said, "But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you." (Luke 6:27-28).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Look upon us, and let all the darkness of our souls vanish before the beams of thy brightness. Help us to forgive those who have wronged us. Fill us with Your love and open to us the treasures of Your wisdom. Give us peace and comfort and help us to get over the past and move on to the great blessings that You have set before us. In Jesus' name......Amen.

Have a great and wonderful day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Deceptions of Alcohol

Deceptions of Alcohol 07.26.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Saturday July 26, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Proverbs. Please read Chapters 20-22 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2020-22&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the deception of wine, the sovereignty of God over kings of the earth, and moral virtues rewarded. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that there is no such thing as the occasional drink. No matter how little a person drinks it can lead to destruction if we are not careful.

The occasional drink, in moderation, seems harmless and it even gives the appearance of making life more enjoyable, but alcohol is amazingly deceptive. Many social drinkers eventually discover that they are an alcoholic and have exchanged a meaningful life for a degrading existence. Brilliant people who were once successful and influential have been reduced to uselessness because of alcohol. And, strange as it may seem, in their own minds they are convinced that they can take it or leave it and stop drinking at any time. God warns us how deceptive it actually is. "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." (Proverbs 20:1).

Alcohol takes control both chemically and emotionally, with both physical and psychological effects. Once a person is dependent upon it it robs him of good judgment and, eventually, may destroy his life as well as those of others. Alcohol can produce unavoidable, irreversible, and far-reaching physical and emotional wounds. The longer the victim of intoxication continues indulging in alcohol, the more insensible he becomes to the consequences of his behavior. Gradually, millions have allowed themselves to be in direct violation of the Word of God.

The only release from these tragic consequences is the mercy of God. When a person truly repents, turns to Christ, and allows Him to be Savior and Lord of his life, the Holy Spirit becomes his source of strength to overcome sin. "Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;" (Ephesians 5:17-18).

When you drink you automatically come under the influence. Consequently it is impossible at the same time to be filled with the spirit of God if you are filled with other spirits. This is why God has said whosoever is deceived is not wise. "Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof." (Romans 13:13-14).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the King who sits on the throne of judgment. (Proverbs 20:8). Jesus said: "For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him." (John 5:22-23)

Bible Study: Humbleness

Humbleness 07.25.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Friday July 25, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Proverbs. Please read Chapters 16-19 in your Bible or Click here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016-19&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the values of pleasing the Lord and wise choices. Today's message focuses on the importance of learning to be humble.

To be humble means to feel less proud of one's own importance, to be repsectful toward others no matter how bad they treat you, and to face humility with grace. God urges us to be humble, "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud." (Proverbs 16:18-19).

However, no one is naturally humble. Our human nature is infused with pride passed down from Adam. It is only the indwelling Christ who can develop true humbleness in our lives. Humbleness will produce in us kindness toward the unkind, long suffering toward those who annoy us, and love toward our enemies.

Many of us would like to think that we are humble, at least more than others, but humbleness, or a lack of it, is apparent by our attitude when we are with someone who irritates us. "Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself." (18:1-2). Knowing the destructive power of pride, let us look beyond our hearts and choose to use the difficult people that God places before us as an opportunity to cleanse ourselves of that pride and to express the Christlike humbleness that God seeks from us.   How inconsistent it is to think we have humblely given ourselves to Christ when we snub or react harshly to anyone who wrongs or irrates us. It can be very hard to forgive someone who has hurt you, but without forgiveness comes a chain reaction of anger, bitterness, and hate toward all.

To be Christlike is to see others through the eyes of Jesus and to give equal consideration to all people, regardless of their race, position, abilities, or wealth, for God is no respecter of persons. Paul reminds us, "Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:" (Philippians 2:2-5).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the One who punishes the proud. (Proverbs 16:5). Jesus said, "For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." (Luke 14:11).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord, You have placed Your children in a world where people push and shove to be first. Because of their self-importance they will stop at nothing until they get what they want in life, even if it means hurting others in the process. Lord, You have called us to view life from a perspective that considers others as important as ourselves. We are to have a humble attitude that puts You first, others second, and ourselves last in everything we do. In our humanity this is impossible, but as we are being transformed into the likeness of Your Son, Jesus, we become more like Him. Help us to have the mind of Christ in all that we do and to humble ourselves as You would, Jesus. In Jesus; name.....Amen.

Have a great day and weekend!
God bless, Christina

Bible Study: Changing The Truth

Changing the Truth 07.24.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Thursday July 24, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Proverbs. Please read Chapters 12-15 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2012-15&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Moral virtues and the pitfalls of evil. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we are often tempted to modify the truth to fit our situation, but when we try to change truth, no matter how convenient, it becomes a lie.

Besides being a revelation of God to man, the Bible is meant to provide practical instruction that covers every aspect of life. Contrasts are often used to illustrate the meanings of a proverb. "The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment. Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy. There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief. Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight." (Proverb 12:19-22). In other words God is telling us that a lying tongue destroys trust through another person's word. Just one conversation can do evil that will last a lifetime if we tell or are told one little lie.

It was Satan's lying tongue that brought death and all our suffering into the world, and spoiled the paradise which God had prepared for Adam and Eve. The tongue of a liar strips a man of what makes life beautiful, takes away his good name, and breaks bonds of friendship. In contrast, wise and kind words help to heal the wounded spirit. "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit." (15:1-4).

Truth is the great need today, truth in word and deed as well as our thoughts. Jesus came into the world to restore fellowship between God and mankind which was first broken by the slandering tongue of the devil. "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice." (John 18:37b).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the One who hates lying (Proverbs 12:22). "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:7-8).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
How special it is to know that we will not appear as a stranger before You in heaven, but You will call us by name for You are thoroughly acquainted with us.  As a loving father cares for his child so You care for us, your children.  You place us in the palm of Your hand and no enemy can snatch us from Your protective and loving care.  What a tremendous and calm feeling this brings to our hearts this new day. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: The Wise or Foolish Path

The Wise or Foolish Path 07.23.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Wednesday July 23, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Proverbs. Please read Chapters 8-11 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%208-11&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the benefits of wisdom; and the contrast between the wise and foolish. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we have two choices in life, to be wise or foolish.

Nothing in life is to be more treasured, more priceless, than knowing the Word of God. As Solomon spoke these proverbs to his son, God is also speaking to us as His own children. "All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it." (Proverbs 8:8-11).

Is it any surprise that Satan seeks so relentlessly to keep Christians from reading what God has written, the only sure way of knowing right from wrong? When we commit ourselves to be obedient to reading God's Word, our first considerations become love, loyalty, and service to our Lord. "Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." (9:9-10). This wisdom and understanding covers every aspect of life: physical, moral, spiritual, financial, and our social well-being.   The basic difference between the wise man and the fool is in the use each makes of his time, talents, and material possessions. When we rely on God and His Word it will result in loving obedience to Him. "The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death. The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked." (10:1-3).   We all are on one of two roads in our journey through life. The road followed by the wise is narrower and more difficult, but it brings happiness, satisfaction, peace, and eternal life; however, the broad road of the fool inevitably leads to a life of self-interest, leaveing one never satisfied and always wanting something more ultimately resulting of eternal death.   In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the Creator who prepared the heavens (Proverbs 8:27-31). "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." (John 1:3).   Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord, As we earnestly seek and follow You our minds are being renewed daily. Our ambitions, goals, and affections are being transformed into what You created us to be. It is in dying to the world that we become alive unto Christ and it is through Your mercy that we offer our lives today as living sacrifices. Bless us with the wisdom we need to follow the journey that You have prepared for us. In Jesus' name......Amen.   Have a great and mighty day!

Bible Study: Listen to Instruction

Listen to Instruction 07.22.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday July 22, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Proverbs. Please read Chapters 4-7 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%204-7&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the power of wisdom to protect us from evil; the seven sins most hated by God; and the necessity of keeping God's Commandments. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that the things that we see and hear, especially if they are evil, are stored in our minds and are often used by Satan to tempt us to sin. In order to overcome these sins we are to become wise to the instruction of God and evaluate ourselves to see if we are setting ourselves up.

Truly it is by listening to the instruction of a father that will spare a child heartache and misery as they grow. God uses Solomon to explain the importance of wisdom, "Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth." (Proverbs 4:1-5).

He also instructs us how to live wisely, "But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." (4:18-23). To be diligent means to keep the heart persistent with following God. The more we spend time with God the wiser we get and the less we fall into wickedness.

This characteristic of Satan underlies the following seven sins that are an abomination unto God. "These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." (6:16-19). The first of the seven deadly sins is a proud look. This type of pride is the attitude that shows others that we are superior or better than them. Of all sins, pride comes first, for it precedes all other sins. When we are too proud of ourselves it leaves us thinking that we are above and beyond needing help from other and especially God. It is good to feel good knowing that we are doing great things for God or others, but when we let our pride take over it reflects the rest of our attitude and behavior toward others which cause a manifestation of other sins.

An obligation rests upon every Christian to let his words be an overflow of the Spirit-filled life. We cannot offer a member of our body for His use on one occasion and then on the next, use it to deceive or destroy another. "But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be." (James 3:8-10).

We do not realize it, but we reveal our hearts by what we say and hear. Ponder the kind of talk you enjoy hearing and speaking, in this way you can get to know yourself. For it is the kind of talk that you love to hear and speak about that indicates the type of person your are. The sort of person who pours into your ears all the latest information has sized you up as being the type of person who wants to hear that kind of garbage. You can evaluate yourself by taking time to note the things people come and talk to you about.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the teacher of wisdom (Proverbs 4:7,11). Christ is our Teacher, "That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." (Colossians 2:2-3).

Today's Prayer
Dear Lord,
We ask You to not only open our eyes to that which is around us, but we ask You to open our hearts and reveal to us any evil that is in us. Lord, help us to learn from Your instruction and may we continue to hide Your Word in our hearts that we might not sin against You. How blessed we are to know that as You reign in our hearts, our spirits understand which is Scriptural and that which is heresy.  May we ever be vigilant in Scripture and fervent in prayer as we encounter the gods of this world. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a wonderful day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Giving God Control

Giving God Control 07.21.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Monday July 21, 2008 and today we are beginning our studies on the book of Proverbs. The book of Proverbs is the twentieth book in the Old Testament and contains 31 chapters. The book was written by David's son, Solomon, with the exception of  chapters 30 and 31. The book was first written to Israel, but the truths for practical living are applicable to all believers and the purpose of the book is to show that no matter what the world has to offer without the Lord, all is vanity.

The word "proverbs" means "a brief saying instead of many words." Each verse in Proverbs is a concise summary of an important truth. It is difficult to make a general outline of the book because each chapter and sometimes each verse within the chapter deals with a different subject. The reason for writing these brief sayings or "proverbs" is to condense wisdom to help us remember spiritual truths better. The Proverbs are short summaries of great spiritual truths.

Today we will read Proverbs Chapters 1-3, Click Here to read or Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%201-3&version=9

Today we will read and learn about wisdom beginning with the fearing of God; the necessity of searching for wisdom; and the importance of trusting in the Lord. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that great gain is obtained by giving control of our lives over to God. This is a principle the world refuses to accept.

Solomon, as well as all the other writers of the Bible, was inspired by God to record exactly what God wanted us to know in order to be the person He created us to be. "To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Proverbs 1:2-7).

There is a promise in connection with spiritual wisdom. Many understand most of the literal meaning of the Bible, but many do not comprehend its spiritual significance because they have not submitted to its guidance. However, when we take the time to meditate on these words we not only become wiser we also understand God. "My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God." (2:1-5)

Speaking through Solomon, God is saying: "Take My Word seriously." It alone can provide you with true wisdom that will guide you. "He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:" (2:8-11).

Despite the Lord's urging, some people spend little, or no, time reading the Bible,  and only a few ever pray for spiritual achievements so that they may accomplish the purpose for which God created them. Discerning Christians will put their personal goals in harmony with God's and seek Him first while making all secular goals secondary. This proves time and time again that we have better success at reaching personal goals when we put God first. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33).

The choice of whom we will serve is of utmost importance, for it affects everything else in life. With the same intense energy by which worldly success is pursued by many, Christians should seek achievements of eternal value for the good of others and the glory of God.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the Creator, "The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens." (3:19). "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:" (Colossians 1:16).

Dear Lord,
We pray for a sincere heart that is sensitive to Biblical truths as they apply to our lives.  We struggle with forgetfulness and indifference which are twin enemies of a living vibrant relationship with You. Lord, we invite You to arrange the circumstances of our lives that will keep us patiently looking to You and asking for Your divine guidance instead of trying to take on the world without You. In Jesus' name......Amen.

Have a great day and week!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Praise The Lord

Praise The Lord 7.20.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Sunday July 20, 2008 and today we are completing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 144-150 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20144-150&version=9

Today we will learn about David's praise for God's mercy and goodness; the benefits of trusting in God; all creation urged to praise the Lord; and triumph in the God of Israel. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we need to praise God always as praising God give us hope and increases our faith in Him.

The psalmist begins and ends each of the last five psalms saying, "Praise ye the LORD", which is the literal translation of the Hebrew word Hallelujah. He further proclaims, "Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being......Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever" (Psalm 146:1-2, 5-6). Praising God not only lifts Him up it also lifts us up as well, giving us the hope that we can get through our struggles.

The more we are determined to truly put Christ first in our lives, the more we will experience interruptions which demand our time and attention. Many times, we allow even the good things to keep us from the best that God has to offer. Remember, God knows our hearts and also knows if we are truthful in our walk with Him. While we do not see beyond the surface, God does and no matter how good we look on the outside we can not hide the inside.

The Psalms in this book make us aware that nothing comes into our lives by accident. Everything God permits satan to do to us is to develop His highest good in us. These closing psalms assure us we have a loving, Heavenly Father who wants the best for His children and all we have to to is call on Him and have the patience to seek and trust Him in all that we do.

God has provided His Word as the One True Guide that reveals how we should live to please Him. Our Lord has provided His Church where we can sing praises to Him, share our testimonies with others who love Him, and receive instruction and inspiration from spiritual leaders. As Christians, we were never meant to be self-sufficient, independent loners, but responsible members of the Body of Christ, which is the Church. "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love." (Ephesians 4:13-16).

The Book of Psalms concludes by saying, "Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD." (Psalm 150:6).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus,
Instead of a murmuring and ungrateful attitude, I want to join with the multitude of believers and praise You. I will praise You, my great Redeemer, for who You are and for Your acts of kindness seen so many times throughout my day. I will never cease to praise Your name because You never cease to work on my behalf. Your mercy and love, Your strength and comfort, Your sustaining power and guiding hand endures forever and are only a tiny fraction of the many reasons that lead me to praise You. In your mighty name, Jesus.......Amen.

Enjoy your day!

Bible Study: God Knows Everything

God Knows Everything 07.18.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Friday July 18, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 132-143 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20132-143&version=9

Today we will read about a prayer for God's blessing; the joy of unity; exhortation to praise the Lord; God's enduring mercy; God's Word magnified, the all-seeing providence of God; David's prayer for deliverance from Saul; comfort in prayer; and a prayer for mercy in judgment. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that Satan would like for us to believe that we can hide our sin and get away with it, but the truth is God knows our hearts and knows everything sin that we commit.

Those who form the family of God should surely live together in peace and harmony. You will be unable to discover any beauty worth speaking of in the false unity created and maintained by compromise of principles and man made rules and regulations. "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore." (Psalm 133).

The unity that is pleasant to the Lord is the unity of Christians brought about through the Holy Spirit. We are all unique, yet there is perfect unity. The word pleasant denotes delightful and lovely. It should be an attitude manifestation toward others.

God reveals that, at conception, we became a person, a living soul. Although, as an unborn infant, we were hidden from human view, as if buried in the earth, our bodies are no mystery to our Creator, who prepares us for our journey on earth. Nothing that we are going through is a surprise to God because He already knew that it was going to happen. God explains this to David as He inspired him to write Psalm 139. "O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether." (Psalm 139: 1-4).

David shows us that a sincere love of God prompts a clear break from sin, "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." (139:23-24). This request expresses sincerity. It is not the request of one who was ignorant of his true character and inflated with presumption, but of one who thoroughly knew his natural human tendency to self deception. Just as one unguarded entrance to a high-walled city may admit an invading horde, David knew that yielding to one temptation could weaken an otherwise guarded life.

Let us be well assured that God alone knows our hearts completely. For example, David in his time of sins of adultery and murder, apparently lived without confession and without forgiveness and without his conscience convicting him because he was in all other activities appearing as a very good and gracious king of the kingdom of God. "(See II Samuel). One year later the prophet Nathan was led of God to show David what he was doing wrong. It was God's authoritative Word that brought conviction and exposed David's wickedness to his own heart. Deeply grieved, David confessed his sin, repented, and was pardoned by God and restored to fellowship with Him. But as God foretold, David suffered many tragedies to the day of his death.

The Word, by the power of the Holy Spirit, is the instrument which the Lord God uses today to search the depths of the human heart.

In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed as the descendant of David. "The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne." (Psalm 132:11). "He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:" (Luke 1:32).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Nothing brings abiding peace more than knowing that we are saved from the penalty of sin and that we are firmly grounded in Your holy precepts. It makes us feel safe in a struggling world that continues to search for knowledge from all the wrong sources. We are sound in our outlook when we align our understanding and convictions with the teachings of Christ, in You we are saved and we are sound. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your day and weekend! TGIF!

Bible Study: Patience

Patience 07.17.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Thursday July 17, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 120-131 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20120-131&version=9

Today we will read about a prayer for deliverance from lying lips; sustaining power; a prayer for the peace of Jerusalem; and blessings for trusting God. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we must wait patiently on God. It becomes easier to be patient when we fully realize God never goes back on His Word and that He is with us even when we think He is not.

The Law required all male Jews physically able and ceremonially clean to go to Jerusalem three times a year to participate in the seven feasts (Exodus 23:14-17; Deuteronomy 16:16). Some of the men may have traveled from one to three weeks to arrive in Jerusalem, but these were to be journeys of great joy. They sang with assurance that the Lord would protect their homes and possessions during their absence. "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand." (Psalm 121:1-5). Just as we pray in our hearts for help in our time of need, protection from our enemies, or give joyful praise to God them men sang praise to God during their travels.

Christians have frustrations and fears and it is of utmost importance that we know how to resolve these emotional problems. God led the psalmist to reveal the true source of help during these problems. "In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me." (120:1). "I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope." (130:5). The Israelites were taught to trust in the Lord for provisions and protection, and to wait for Him.

Patience is indispensable as we wait upon the Lord our God, at first, we may even submit to the Lord even against our will, but once we begin to let Him in we learn that past experiences teach us that patiently waiting is our wisest course and that through God we finally have that hope we have been longing for. We want His will in us. Waiting upon the Lord is the expression of our faith in Him and allows God to deal with us in such a way and time as He thinks best.

To many it will appear impossible and too difficult to wait upon God, they lost their faith and either walk away from Him completely or can never believe that there is a true God that will protect or save us. The one who knows God will not depend upon his own judgment or his own ability, but will put their faith in Him, never giving up and will wait until God gives them direction. Patiently waiting upon God is a test of our faith in Him and brings His rich reward to us. "Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth." (Psalm 37:7-9).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the One who preserves us. (Psalm 121:8). "And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." (II Timothy 4:18).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
For many the circumstances in life are so uncertain and the solutions to our problems can be very perplexing and seem beyond our grasp. There are many things that we do not seem to understand, but we know You are our Savior and Protector and that You give us the hope we need for tomorrow. Thank you, God, that You do not expect us to have all the right answers or to fully understand all that concerns us. You simply want us to trust You as we hold on to Your unchanging hand while You go before us making our paths straight. Grant us the grace to trust You more and give us the wisdom and understanding of Your Word to know Your will for our lives. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: With All Your Heart

With All Your Heart 07.16.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Wednesday July 16, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapter 119 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=23&chapter=119&version=9

Today we will read about the greatness, power, and perfection of God's Word. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that the disappointments of this life soon teach us that true joy comes from loving God not from the things of the world. We need to focus our attention on the only infallible Guide to Life given by our Creator, God's Word.

In this chapter God has provided everything we need to be the person He created and planned for us to be. It is equally emphasized how indispensable it is to know our Creator, Savior, and soon-coming Messiah and King. "Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently." (Psalm 119:1-4). The undefiled means much more than just avoiding sin or living a good life. We are specially blessed by God as we seek to please Him with the whole heart.

Although the writer of this psalm is unknown, David has been suggested as its author. David sought the Lord, observed His Laws, and prayed for His help with his whole heart. "With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments." (119:10). How necessary it is when praying, reading God's Word, or seeking his will, that we do it whole heartly.

It is by taking daily delight in God's Word, as much as in all riches, that our fellowship with the Lord is assured. The psalmist continues, "I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word." (119:15-17). This kind of forgetting is more than a momentary memory lapse. It is drifting away from God as a result of becoming so involved in other interests that His Word is neglected.

We need to pray daily, "Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way." (119:33-37). As we do this, we have something to sing about regardless of our circumstances.

Though he had been afflicted, the psalmist did not find fault with God, nor did he doubt the Lord's wisdom or His justice. For many, it is in times like these that we painfully recognize that we have made wrong choices in the past which have led to unwholesome consequences. In such circumstances we realize that the Bible is priceless, for it alone reveals life's true values and prepares us for eternity. All who love the Lord can say, "LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments. My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly. I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are before thee. Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word. Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word." (119:116-170)

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the psalmist who delighted in the Commandments of God (Psalm 119:47). Jesus said, "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me." (John 6:38)

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
As Your children we need to regularly examine our hearts to see if there are things, pursuits, or attitudes that are drawing us away from Your heart and thrusting us once again into the mindset of the world. Our heart's examinations are not intended to condemn us but to refresh our spirit and remind us of our godly heritage. Father, since You know our hearts more than we do ourselves, reveal to us that which helps and that which hinders our Christian walk. As we walk in obedience to You we're grateful for the peace and rest we receive in knowing that You do not condemn us but deliver mercy to help us in our time of need.  You do not stand over us in judgment, but You walk alongside us assuring us of Your unwavering love and unending mercy that will see us through on this side of the journey.  In Jesus' name....Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Christina

Bible Study: Fearing God

Fearing God 07.15.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday July 15, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 108-118 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20108-118&version=9

Today we will read about David's praise to God for His sovereignty over nations; a prayer for judgment upon the wicked; prophecies of Jesus including His being rejected, and the urgency to trust in God, not idols. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that it is easy to praise the Lord in good times, but it is the hard times that purify our praise and bless all who fear Him.

David's mighty army go into battle singing Psalm 108, "O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds." (Psalm 108:1-4). No matter what we are facing singing praises to the Lord will not only prepare us it will also strengthen us for the battle.

When Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, He fulfilled the prophecy which the Holy Spirit had earlier inspired King David to write. "The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies." (110:1-2). Jesus quoted this psalm referring to Himself (Mark 12:36).

David also foretold that Israel, as a nation, would reject their Messiah King. "The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.......Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD. God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar. Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever." (118:22-23, 26-29). Christ will still reign by divine appointment even though Israel, as a nation, rejected their Messiah King.

When we consider Him, how can we help but worship with the psalmist, "Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments." (112:1). A respectful fear of God inspires a love for Him that will move us to delight in His Commandments. This is the fear of God that is an essential part of the life of every Christian. We are not to be afraid of God, we are to be afraid of living without Him.

There is something peaceful about knowing God is with us in the midst of our struggles. Although God does not stop us from facing them as we accept Him into our lives He does give us hope that we will get through them. A hope that nothing or anyone on this earth can give us. "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:1-2).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through The Stone which the builders rejected, (Psalm 118:22). Jesus quoted from Psalm 118 to the chief priests and the Pharisees when they rejected Him. (Matthew 21:42-45).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your repeated warnings in Scripture that informs, instructs and protects us from those who try to hurt us and the evil one. Help us not to ignore your warnings or procrastinate in our obedience to Your commands. Embolden our spiritual leaders to be fearless watchmen who speak out Your truths, even when they're not popular or politically expedient. May we be receptive to Your Word and obedient in our response. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Enjoy your day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Desire God's Word

Desire God's Word 07.14.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Monday July 14, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 106-107 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20106-107&version=9

Today we will read about Israel's rebellion in the wilderness; God's mercies to Israel; and urging to praise God for His goodness. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that learning to be obedient to God's Word must be the sincere desire of every Christian.

Although God had faithfully blessed Israel, miraculously delivered them from Egyptian slavery, provided the promised land, and given them victory over the Canaanites and great prosperity they still forgot what He had done for them. "And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left. Then believed they his words; they sang his praise. They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert." (Psalm 106:10-14).

The magnificence of Israel's history was not the result of her heroes, priests, or prophets, but rather it was the fulfillment of God's Word (Genesis 12:7). Accordingly, all failures which were written in their history, all losses, defeats in battle, famines, and exiles were to be seen as consequences of disobedience to His Word. "Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them. Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word: But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD." (106:23-25).

The psalmist then points out the inevitable consequences of sin, but the Lord's judgment on Israel was mingled with His inexhaustible mercy. "They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation......"Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions."  (107:4-7, 19-20). Israel's method of deliverance is the same for everyone today, He sent His Word, and healed them.

His Word is Jesus come in the flesh as well as His Written Word. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1). His Written Word
when believed and acted upon, is the means God has chosen to supply and satisfy our every need.

Today Jesus Christ is revealed through the One who makes the storm a calm (Psalm 107:29). Jesus calms the storms of our lives and give us peace. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
You are our help in ages past and our hope for years to come!  How powerful and enduring Your Word is. It is living, relevant and active in the lives of believers all over the globe. It is more than print on a page, for the Word of God penetrates the heart; guiding, instructing, convicting, delighting, comforting and performing the supernatural work of God in our lives.  Increase our love and passion for reading Your Word faithfully so that we may grow in understanding and appreciation for all You have to show us. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a great day and week!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Relief Through Forgiveness

Relief Through Forgiveness 07.13.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Sunday July 13, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 101-105 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20101-105&version=9

Today we will read about a personal commitment to the Lord's ways; a cry in distress; gratitude to God for His mercy; His mighty power; and God's providence over Israel. Today's message focuses on realizing that God forgives us and cleanses us of all our sins, but we must forgive ourselves and others if we are ever to see relief.

David was inspired by the Holy Spirit to prophesy of Jesus' coming kingdom reign when He will administer equal justice for all the world. "I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing. I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. " (Psalm 101:1-4). David declared that he would walk with a perfect heart. To maintain this attitude, David chose his friends wisely.

A few of the many reasons for praising the Lord are given in Psalm 103, but it is our loving Lord Himself who is our highest reason for praise. First, we praise Him for who He is, the all-powerful, all-wise, righteous Creator, and then for His mercy and forgiving love in cleansing us from all our sins. "The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him." (103:8-11). To fear God does not mean that we are to be afraid of Him, it means to respect and be in awe of Him.

His forgiving love toward those who fear Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. Therefore, it is an act of unbelief, a deception of Satan, and contrary to the nature of our loving Lord, to bring up former sins whether they be ours or those of others. Forgiven means no longer remembered, not only by God but by us as well. We are cleansed of our sins through the blood of Christ and once we repent and ask for forgiveness that sin is forgotten. It is us who keep brining it back up and causing so much unnecessary pain for ourselves. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." ( I John 1:9).

As you begin praying, always remember to forgive anyone you feel has wronged you. When you do that, your Father will forgive your evil deeds; but, if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive you or answer your prayers. We are reminded that unlimited forgiveness should characterize every true disciple of Christ, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." (Mark 11:24-26).

As the One who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases (Psalm 103:3). Forgiveness of sin and the healing power of God describe the ministry of our Lord Jesus, who was sent not to be ministered to, but to minister and be ransom for many. "Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." (Matthew 20:28).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We are reminded today that nothing happens to Your children apart from Your sovereign will. Since You use both good and evil to accomplish Your purpose in our lives we need not fear what others may say or do to us because Your Spirit abides with us and helps us to trust You no matter the present or future. Our lives are shielded and protected in Your loving hands. In Jesus' name......Amen.

Have a great day!

Bible Study: Corrupted Thinking

Corrupted Thinking 07.11.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Friday July 11, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 89-100 in your Bible or Click Hereto read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2089-100&version=9

Today we will read and learn about a cry for deliverance from death; praise for God's Covenant and promises; frailty and brevity of life; the protection of the faithful, praise for the loving-kindness of the Lord; an appeal for justice; and a call to sing, worship, and praise the Lord. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that satan will use many people, even family and friends to corrupt your way of thinking and believing in God and serving Him.

Life is filled with both spiritual and physical dangers and the psalmist regarded God as a refuge and a fortress. "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence." (Psalm 91:1-3). The godly recognize the need of a refuge during bodily pain, mental perplexities, sorrows, and struggles. The very nature of trials and testing involves the idea of possible failure. Bodily pain may result in bitterness; mental perplexities have sometimes led to unbelief.

Since many spiritual conflicts can end in defeat, Christians must recognize their need for a refuge and fortress. They need to remember that their adversary, the devil wants to devour anyone who believes in God. "Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone." (91:9-12). Satan, a fallen angel, quoted Psalms 91:11-12 to Jesus after His 40-day fast in an attempt to persuade Jesus to leap off the pinnacle of the Temple (See Matthew 4:6; Luke 4:9-11).

Satan was like some today who love the promises of God, but who disregard the conditions of those promises. They are not willing to sacrifice the lusts of the world in order to live the way He commanded. Our Lord set the example when He responded to Satan by quoting Scripture which warns not to tempt God. "Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." (Matthew 4:7).

Satan has deceived many by saying: "Your situation is an exception" or "Just this one time" or "Be broad-minded, everyone is doing it." He also uses examples of hypocrites to deceive some by pointing out: "Religious people do these things, so why shouldn't you?" We must continually be on alert for those who try to corrupt our way of thinking, knowing the truth, and obeying God's commands. Many will come to you pretending to know God, but are just sheep in wolves clothing. "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." (Matthew 7:14-15).

That is why it is so important to surround yourself with godly people and to read God's Word for yourself, get to know Him and understand Him. The more you read the more the Holy Spirit will help you understand. What you can not is revealed to you through preachers and teachers no different than you who have sacrificed the world to serve God and help the lost be found.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the Creator, "Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." (Psalm 100:3). "...which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ" (Ephesians 3:9b).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
How grateful we are for those who have gone before us showing us the way. They not only instructed us in Your ways, but they lived exemplary lives so that we could see faith in action.  We're grateful for their positive examples in our spiritual journey. We even pause to think of those who have taken a wrong direction only to turn away from all they held dear at one time. Would You remind us of the serious consequences of their sinful choices when we're tempted to do the same. We lift those people before You asking the Holy Spirit to convict and guide them back to the Way, the Truth and the Life.  Keep us faithful to the very end so that as time unfolds we can declare with the apostle Paul, 'Now I am old and praise be to God for I am by His grace a prisoner of Christ Jesus, my Redeemer! In Jesus' name......Amen.

Have a great and wonderful day and weekend. TGIF!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Our Guide

Our Guide 07.10.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Thursday July 10, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 81-88 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2081-88&version=9

Today we will read and learn about God's goodness and Israel's waywardness; the blessedness of living in God's presence; David's desire to walk in truth, and a plea for God. Today we will learn the importance of realizing that one of the many things we learn as we worship God is to listen to the Holy Spirit as He guides us into all truth

Sometimes the unbelieving world looks down on the Christian who turns his back on the pleasures of this world. But to be a servant of the Most High God is better than all the pleasure of a rich man's world. "My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.....For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee." (Psalm 84:2, 10-12).

Christians enjoy a peace with God that surpasses all understanding of what the world believes. Both David and the psalmist knew God would not permit them to miss out on, or be deprived of, His best and He would direct each step of life's way.

The Holy Spirit guided David to unite the only two weapons of our spiritual warfare, prayer and the inspired Word of God. Psalm 86 expresses the power we have when these become our way of life. "Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul." (86:1-4). David was the king of Israel he recognized the lordship of God over his life. He often spoke of himself as the servant of the Lord in the Psalms.

David continued to worship and confess God's mercy and readiness to forgive. He expressed the utmost confidence that God listens to His people's prayers and is able to deliver them from all harm regardless of our circumstances, he also asked God to teach him to obey Him. "Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.......For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell......Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me." (86:11,13,17).

The Christian who desires a closer relationship with the Lord does not depend upon previous learning to continue a day-by-day walk in the way of truth, but upon the continual daily guidance of God through His Word. Instruction is much more than just information; it is the means to understand His will and be obedient, it also includes the thought of correction. The child of God never graduates from the Spiritual school of instruction. That is why all of us need to read His Word each day.

A sincere commitment to the Lord is essential. The Apostle Peter recognized this when he encouraged us to do the will of God. "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." (II Peter 1:4-8). We have the potential to live in obedience to His Word, but it requires voluntary submission and it's up to us to take the initiative to build our faith.

In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed through Jerusalem, from where the psalmist declared all of the springs of joy and happiness emanate (Psalm 87:7). Jesus is the source of our joy as the angel announced at His birth (Luke 2:10).

Have a great day full of many blessings.

Bible Study: Blessings Through Discouragement

Blessings Through Discouragement 07.09.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Wednesday July 9, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 78-80 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2078-80&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the Lord's judgment against disobedience; a prayer against enemies; and prayer for mercy and restoration. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that when times of discouragement come it is then when it is the best time to count our blessings and remember where the Lord brought us from.

God had chosen Israel to be His witness to the world. As His people, they were to be an example of how He would bless all who honor Him and His Word; but, they had failed miserably and the glorious City of God was destroyed. By great signs and miracles, He delivered Israel from cruel slavery in Egypt. Furthermore, His gracious dealings with His people were manifested daily throughout their forty years in the wilderness. Nevertheless, again and again their spirit of discontent prevailed, "Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap. In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire. He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths. He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers. And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness." (Psalms 78:12-17).

We are reminded of the pitiful heartbreak and awesome horror felt by the Israelites following the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem. They had assumed that, since they were the chosen Covenant people of God, they were secure. But they had chosen to disobey God's Covenant and His Commandments. The awful consequences of sin are inevitable. The psalmist cried out, "O god, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps. The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth. Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them." (79:1-3).

Since the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, there has been no Temple, no Brazen Altar, no Laver, no Golden Candlestick, no Table of Showbread, no Ark of the Covenant, no Altar of Incense, and no scripturally observed Day of Atonement as commanded by God through Moses. All that was essential to cover their sins was destroyed at that time.   Israel's sacrifices and feasts were symbols created by God to foreshadow all that was to be accomplished by Jesus the Messiah. With Jesus' sacrificial death, all of the Old Testament sacrifices for sins were made obsolete and the old sacrificial system under the Law was destroyed. The sacrifice of Christ on the cross made it possible for both Jews and Gentiles, who recognize themselves as lost sinners, truly repent, and receive Jesus as their Savior, to be forgiven of their sins.

True, there are times when we are plagued by doubts and questions. This is the time to remember that after the Apostle Paul prayed three times for his thorn in his flesh to be removed, the Lord revealed to him a very precious truth, "And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." (II Corinthians 12:7-9).

Now there is the point that needs special emphasis. We need to realize that every Christian is the chosen of God and called out from among the world as lights through the darkness. As such, let us live our lives in childlike faith desiring above all else to please Him. God is longing for us to trust Him and look beyond our human resources to His all-sufficient supply. Our never failing God has promised to protect and keep us and we can rest in the promises of His Word. What is more, He always strengthens us for the work He has called us to do.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the true Shepherd (Psalm 80:1). Christ is the Good Shepherd and the Door through which one must enter to be saved. He alone is the Way to heaven (John 10:9,11).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Spiritual blessings come from You in the midst of Satan's attacks and because of this essential truth we know that if You are for us, who can be against us! There is no formidable foe that cannot be conquered as the power of Your Holy Spirit enables us to remain faithful and ever growing in our devotion to You. Remind us that as we share in Your sufferings we also share in Your glory. In all areas of trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, and danger we are more than conquerors through You who loves us abundantly. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, nor anything else in all of Your creation will be able to separate us from Your love that has been revealed to us through Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ. We rejoice with our family of believers and we thank You for the paths of abundance You lay out before us as we walk hand in hand with You who helps us in all things. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a great and wonderful day!
God bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Focus on God

Focus on God 07.08.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday July 8, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 72-77 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2072-77&version=9

Today we will read and learn about David's prayer for Solomon; the mystery of the prosperity of the wicked; the wicked and the proud rebuked; and the Majesty of God praised. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that worshiping God keeps us from putting too much emphasis on our own desires and allows us to focus on His will for our lives and not on what we have or do not have for ourselves.

The end comes for mighty King David's reign. Old, feeble, and near death, he prays his last prayer, not for his son, but for the one put in charge of God's people. "Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son. He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment. The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations." (Psalm 72:1-5).

A series of psalms is attributed to Asaph, David's song leader. He laments: "Woe is me" and "It's not fair" as he sees the wicked prosper. Then he praises God that the righteous triumph. His transition from severe struggles to ultimate victory revealed the integrity of his heart. In self-pity he had complained, "Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children. When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end." (73:12-17). During one point in his life, he became critical as he saw those who blasphemed God prospering and enjoying life while those who worshiped the Lord were having great difficulties. Through the passing centuries this has been a problem for many Christians who don't understand enough about His Word.

Keep in mind that the psalmist was not describing the facts, but rather what seemed to be the facts. He wondered why the wicked were not plagued with sufferings that the child of God had to endure, but he gained a true perspective of life's problems when he went into the Sanctuary of God and understood their end. Let a man enter into worship, praise God and commune in prayer with Him and, spontaneously, that soul will be humbled, his pride and presumption will perish, and fresh insight will cause him to confess before God, "So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory." (73:22-24).

The disciple who accepts the course of life's events as being under God's control will trust Him and thank Him in humble prayer for the needed grace and many blessings of God given to them in the midst of their struggles. He will have taken the first step in the path that leads to daily fellowship with the Lord and a wholehearted surrender to live entirely for Christ.

When all other resources fail, we will discover that God, and God alone, is adequate to satisfy your every need. Draw near to Him and His presence will banish all your darkness and brighten and beautify your life with His Light, endless love, and loyalty. "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:31-33).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the Righteous Judge who will crush the oppressors (Psalm 72:4). Psalm 75:8 describes the judgment of God upon those who refuse to accept the salvation so freely offered by Jesus, the Lamb of God (John 1:29,34-36)

Today's Prayer:
Dear Jesus,
I am full of gratitude today as I consider Your abiding presence in my life. You planned my existence in my mother's womb before I even drew my first breath. When so many people have come into my life and exited it throughout the years You have taken up residence and You forever rule my heart. When the path before me was unclear You have always gone before me sustaining me in my wilderness journey. Though all forsake me You remain faithful, and remarkable as it seems, even if we are faithless, You will remain faithful, for You cannot deny Yourself.  Thank You for being my Supreme Savior and the Sustainer of my soul. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Have a great and wonderful day!

Christina

Bible Study: Praise & Rejoice

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Monday July 7, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 67-71 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2067-71&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the blessings of God upon His people; His judgment upon His enemies; David's prayer in time of trouble; and a prayer of praise and thanksgiving. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that the joy of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is never understood by the fallen world and its perverted standards. We need to press on and praise God in the midst of all that we endure.

"God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah." (Psalm 67:1-4). This psalmist encourages everyone to rejoice and sing for joy, singing and giving praise to God always brings satisfaction and peace of mind.

While we wait for Jesus to return from heaven, the psalmist also reminds us to rejoice in God, "But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice. Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him." (68:3-4). JAH is short for the Name of Jehovah which also means Yahweh, who is ever in the present. Let us join with the psalmist in a proclamation of praise and adoration for Jesus Christ, our wonderful Savior and Lord, who generously pours out His blessings upon us.

The man who trusts in God is led to praise Him irrespective of life's ups and downs. Christianity has been misrepresented by Satan and his crowd as a cheerless, gloomy, dull experience. Even the dark and trying experiences of life can produce good blessings as we realize that trials are often a blessing in disguise and that temporal loss can result in spiritual enrichment. So a Christian's greatest losses and crosses may lead to his greatest gains and joys.

However, it is far otherwise with the rebellious. "God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land." (68:8). To them trials, sorrows, and losses are unfortunate evils. They rebel against trials; and earthly losses often lead to bitterness the rebellious dwell in a dry land.  The brightest prospects of sinful enjoyment eventually leave their victims empty and wretched.

To Christians the future is radiant, beautiful, and inviting. At the close of life, they look expectantly forward to meeting their Savior, Jesus Christ, who abolished death (Revelation 20:6; 21:8). "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:14-16).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the One who led captivity captive (Psalm 68:18). With His resurrection power, Jesus broke the captive power of Satan. When He led the Old Testament saints from paradise into heaven, He led captivity captive.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
For many the circumstances in life are so uncertain. The solutions to our problems can be very perplexing and seem beyond our grasp. There are many things about tomorrow that we don't seem to understand, but we know who holds tomorrow, and we do know who holds our hand. Thank you, God, that You don't expect us to have all the right answers or to fully understand all that concerns us. You simply want us to trust You as we hold on to Your unchanging hand. In Jesus' name.....Amen

Have a wonderful day and week.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Our Refuge

Our Refuge 07.06.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Sunday July 6, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 60-66 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2060-66&version=9

Today we will read and learn about David's prayer for deliverance from his enemies; his confidence in God's promises; and David's exhortation to praise God for His goodness. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that no matter what circumstances we face or how long they seem God is our refuge and preparing us for great things.

The country to the east of Jordan into which David had been forced to retreat from Absalom was not part of the Lord's promised land. In what seemed like a foreign country, the psalmist felt exiled from God's people and banished from God's presence. "O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh. Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment. Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah." The word Selah means to stop and think about what has been said. (Psalm 60:1-4). He was far from the city that he loved most, from his home, from his throne, and from the Tabernacle of his God, but even more serious and fearful.

While David was exiled from his loved ones and the physical comforts of royal status, he pleaded to God, "Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah." (61:1-4). Although his desolate situation seemed like the end of the earth, David was confident that his True Source of security from his enemies was the living God Himself, who was like a great tower of protection.

Making God our strong tower means recognizing that His followers are in the protective care of the invincible God. Depression and frustration need not exist in the life of one who believes that God is the only strong tower from the enemy in the face of evil forces. Like David, we can depend upon the Lord for protection and provision, regardless of how hopeless our circumstances may seem or how long they seem to last.

Although David's difficult circumstances remained the same for many years, he continued to declare, "My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God." (62:5-7). He then turned his thoughts to others who faced trials and suffering and continued by encouraging all of us to trust in Him at all times."Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah." (62:8).  It is a comfort to know that through everything we face in life God is our refuge and preparing us for greater things to come.

In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed through the Rock - the unmovable, eternal, unchanging Savior (Psalms 61:2; 62:2,6-7). Jesus is the Rock of our salvation. "And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." (I Corinthians 10:4).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
As we live by faith and not by sight we see much of what the world do
