Bible Study: God in The Tabernacle

Bible Study: God In The Tabernacle Thursday, Jan 31, 2008

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Thursday January 31, 2008 and today we are completing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read, Exodus 40. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the dedication of Aaron and his sons; glory of the Lord fills theTabernacle.

On Mount Sinai, God instructed Moses to Make Him a sanctuary so that He may dwell among the people according to all that He has instructed. (Exodus 25:8-9). After nine months, the building of the Tabernacle was complete and Moses did exactly what the LORD commanded him. "Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he." (Exodus 40:16). This phrase emphasizes the supreme importance of obedience to the will of God (40:16-32). Moses' obedience was complete in every detail for making about 40 different items, including the tent, altars, vessels, Brass Laver, garments, pins, sockets, loops, posts, and furniture.

After the Tabernacle was constructed, the cloud of the Lord and the Tabernacle were inseparable throughout the Israelites' journeys. If the cloud lifted and moved forward, the Tabernacle and the people then followed; if the cloud stopped, the people remained until it moved again. "Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys: But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys." (40:34-38).

God's Word provides all the wisdom, spiritual guidance, and strength necessary to live for Him. It is vital that we, like Moses, do all that the LORD commanded. The only possible way to understand all of what He has commanded is to read all of His Word with a desire to obey Him.

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through Aaron as the high priest (Exodus 40:13). "But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." (Hebrews 9:11-12).

Today's Psalm: 111:10
"The fear of (to respect) the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever."

Today's Prayer: From Psalm 31
Dear Lord,
"In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me. Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength. Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD. I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;" I will put my complete trust in you for you know what is best for me and will never forake me. In Jesus' name, I pray......Amen.

Have a wonderful day/night.

Christina

Jesus Said: I Will Break The Bands

I Will Break The Bands 01.30.08

"And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep. And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them. Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked." (Luke 8: 27-33).

It seems that no matter how much faith we have in our Lord there are times when we fall into the clutches of the devil. We can be high on the moutain top, gleaming as we are blessed abunantly and in a matter of seconds we fall and that assurance knowing that God will provide for and protect us gets toppled by negative emotions and insecurities. All it takes is the mere blink of an eye and the devil catches us and tries to bound us with his chains and fetters (shackles), making us lose sight of the Lord.

This happened to me this past weekend, I was having a wonderful week walking with the Lord, He blessed me with extra clients and provided me with things I needed. Then just like that my faith turned to fear and for two days I was abound with worry and confusion. I lost a lot of sleep, had horrible dreams, made myself sick, and had no ambition to do anything.

However, Jesus knew my pain and He knew my faith in Him was just clouded by the devil's thoughts controlling my mind. He drew me close to Him and when I realized that He was still with me. I cried out to Him and He broke the bands and freed me from those chains and shackles.

Life can be so cruel and unbareable at times, I will not even try to understand why things happen or why people do what they do, but I do understand that we have a great and mighty God that will help us through every situation and will break those chains that bind us.

Are you ready to break free from the chains and shackles that the devil caught you with?

Whether it is past or present chains holding you down you can break free. Go to Jesus, cry out to Him and He will break the bands that keep you from the bondage that the devil uses to hold you down.

Bible Study: The Tabernacle Completed

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Wednesday January 30, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read, Exodus 38-39. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the Brazen Altar of burnt offerings; the Tabernacle courtyard; and the high priest's garments.

Again we continue reading about the construction of the Tabernacle with the precise instructions of God regarding even the garments the priests should wear. Nothing was altered for personal preference, including the Brazen Alter. (Edoxus 38). The fire on the Brazen Altar, known as the Altar of Burnt Offering, was never permitted to go out and was symbolic of the fact that every sinner may come to Christ anytime, day or night to atone for their sins. On the Day of Atonement a bullock for His sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering had to be sacrificed by the priest before he could proceed further toward the Tabernacle on behalf of the congregation. The high priest had to recognize the holiness of God, as well as his own sinfulness, and be cleansed from his guilt and sin before he could perform the sacrifice and intercede on behalf of the people. The only way for sinful man to stand before the Holy God was through the atoning sacrifice.

But Christ offered Himself as a whole burnt offering on the cross for our sins. Our wonderful Lord was both our mediating High Priest and the sacrificial Lamb of God, which took away the sin of the world. It is through Jesus' sacrifice alone that we receive redemption and reconciliation with God.

The Altar of Incense was the smallest piece of furniture in the Tabernacle and, as such, may seem insignificant. But this altar was made of gold and was symbolic of Christ praying for Christians. He both prays for and receives the prayers and praise of even the most helpless Christian and transforms them into a sweet fragrance before God the Father. His intercession makes our prayers precious to God.

The Tabernacle was finally completed and according to the instructions the Lord commanded Moses. "Thus was all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation finished: and the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they. And they brought the tabernacle unto Moses, the tent, and all his furniture, his taches, his boards, his bars, and his pillars, and his sockets, And the covering of rams' skins dyed red, and the covering of badgers' skins, and the vail of the covering, The ark of the testimony, and the staves thereof, and the mercy seat,"(39:32-35).

The Ark of the Testimony (See Exodus 25)contained the Covenant between God and His people Israel. It was a wooden chest overlaid with gold, both inside and out. The Ark was a type of Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, Who alone can atone for sin. The wood represented His human nature and the gold represented His divine nature, for He is both fully God and fully Man The Ark was made from the wood of the acacia tree that grew in the desert, that which a symbol of the world system of things. The lid of the Ark was made of pure gold and was called the Mercy Seat. It covered the Law that had been placed in the Ark. Everyone is a sinner, but Christ, the perfect, sinless Son of God became our High Priest. By His perfect atonement for our sins, He provides repentant sinners with mercy and salvation, represented by the Mercy Seat. The Law provides the "knowledge" of sin, but not the "forgiveness" of sin (Galatians 2:16; 3:11). You can be sure that, as you prayerfully read the Word of God daily and seek to please Him above all else, His indwelling presence will bring meaning to your life.

In today's Lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the golden Altar of Incense and its incense, representing prayers going up to heaven. We see Christ praying for us. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their word (John 17:20).

Today's Psalm: (6:9)
"The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer."

Today's Prayer: From Psalm 61
Dear Lord,
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. In Jesus' name, I pray......Amen.

Have a wonderful day/night.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: The Construction of The Tabernacle

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday January 29, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read, Exodus 35-37. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Freewill offerings for the Tabernacle; the construction of the Tabernacle; the Ark of the Testimony; the Mercy Seat; the Table of Showbread; the Candlestick; & the Altar of Incense.

The next three chapters describe the actual building of the Tabernacle. All it's furniture was constructed according to the Word of God. Nothing was added, altered, or left out. "And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded; The tabernacle, his tent, and his covering, his taches, and his boards, his bars, his pillars, and his sockets, The ark, and the staves thereof, with the mercy seat, and the vail of the covering, The table, and his staves, and all his vessels, and the shewbread, The candlestick also for the light, and his furniture, and his lamps, with the oil for the light, And the incense altar, and his staves, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the hanging for the door at the entering in of the tabernacle, The altar of burnt offering, with his brasen grate, his staves, and all his vessels, the laver and his foot, The hangings of the court, his pillars, and their sockets, and the hanging for the door of the court, The pins of the tabernacle, and the pins of the court, and their cords, The cloths of service, to do service in the holy place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office." (Exodus 35:10-19).

It was more than a worship center. It's design and order of worship were meant to teach Israel the meaning of the Covenant made at Sinai. Furthermore, it was a means whereby the Holy God could fellowship with sinful man through its sacrificial system. It was further designed to lead the believer into the Lord's presence undefiled, with heart, thought, and motives to please Him. The Tabernacle and every item were symbolic of Jesus Christ's life, ministry, and our relationship with Him.

The Altar of Incense was symbolic of Christ as our Intercessor and was located near the Most Holy Place. The priests were permitted in the Holy Place, but only the High Priest could enter the Most Holy Place, and then only once a year on the Day of Atonement. In front of the veil was a Gold Altar. This Altar was much smaller than the Brazen Altar, but was far more costly since it was covered with pure gold. Sacrificial animals were presented to God on the Brazen Altar to atone for sin. It was near the entrance to the courtyard.

Each morning, Aaron the high priest would refill the lamps of the Candlestick with pure olive oil and burn incense upon the altar. He would take a coal of fire from the Brazen Altar and place it on the Altar of Incense and then place the incense on it as a sweet fragrance that ascended toward heaven day and night. God alone was the source of fire on this Altar.

Today, only Jesus Christ can make it possible for us to approach the Holy Heavenly Father in prayer. An unsaved man may enter a church building, hear sermons, sing hymns and read a Bible, but only believers who have received Christ as Savior and Lord of their lives can experience a true relationship with God. Christ our High Priest is interceding for us each time we pray. We are encouraged: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7).
Today's Psalm: 25:5
"Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."
Today's Prayer comes from Psalm 25
"Dear Lord,
Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD. In Jesus' name, I pray.....Amen.   Have a wonderful bless filled day/night.

Bible Study: False Worship

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Monday January 28, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read Exodus 32-34. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Moses' delay on Mount Sinai; Aaron's golden calf; its destruction; the death of 3,000 Israelites; a Law renewed; God's Covenant; and three feasts.

Moses was on Mount Sinai when God gave him the two tables of testimony. At the same time, something tragic was taking place at the base of the mountain. When the people saw that Moses was delayed in coming down from the mountian, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, make us gods, which shall go before us, shortly after Aaron made a golden calf. "And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD." (Exodus 32:1-5).

The Lord instucted Moses to get back down to the base of the mountain as they have corrupted themselves, then God withdrew His presence from Israel. "And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation." (32:7-10).

God withdrew His presence from Israel partly in judgment, but it was also in mercy as we was angry and did not want to destroy them completely. His holy nature cannot remain in the presence of sin no more than a light can remain with darkness. Whenever we violate the will of God, His blessings leave us and we are left wandering in the wilderness until we realize that we need Him, not some foreign object. A true burnt offering was the delight of the Lord since it symbolized full surrender to Him; but these sacrifices were pure idolatry. God forbade anyone to make graven images and yet the first thing they do when they get anxious is think of their own ways to worship. What were they thinking? Did they think that a golden calf, which they could see, was better to worship than the invisible, yet ever present God?

False worship often leads to irresponsible, immoral conduct. Let us compare the Israelites' sins with our own behavior. Most of us would reject man-made idols; but think how easily money, possessions, talents, hobbies, and success become idols for many. The golden calf stands as a symbol of human intellect which devises its own system of devotion.

Upon hearing the judgment of God, Israel with great sorrow, stripped themselves of their ornaments and sought the Lord. In losing God's presence they had lost their greatest treasure and blessing, so putting away their ornaments was fitting evidence of their repentance. "And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments. For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee. And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb." (33:4-6). The presence of God was their assurance of victory, and if He did not go up in the midst of them their failure was inevitable. God later assured them that they were forgiven and that He will remian with them. "And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." (33:14)

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as the One Who is ever-present. Jesus said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27).

Today's Psalm: 16:11
"Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
In the maze of life's events where we're often a passenger on the rollercoaster of life's ups and downs, may we never lose sight of You, Jesus. You are the unseen, but ever-present Shepherd who protects, guides and tenderly comforts us in all our trouble. Thank You, Lord, that when change is constantly about us, You remain steadfast, faithful, and dependable.  You are the Anchor that keeps us grounded in the unseen, but eternal truths we build our lives upon. Keep us faithful and help us to always put our trust and faith in you. In Jesus' name, I pray......Amen.

Have a wonderful day/night and week.
God Bless,
Christina

Today's Bible Study: Cleansing Oil

Hello Friend/Guest,

It is Sunday January 27, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read, Exodus 29-31. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the rules and sacrifices for the priests; continual burnt offering; the Altar of Incense; the holy anointing oil; Sabbath regulations; and the two tablets of stone Moses received.

The priests who ministered in the Tabernacle had to be cleansed before entering. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein. For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat: When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD: So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations." (Exodus 30:17-21). After a priest had washed his hands and feet at the Laver, which provided cleansing from the activities of life, he then was qualified to enter the Tabernacle through a heavy linen veil which was the only entrance into the Holy Place. Notice how precise each detail is given to fulfill God's will. Praise the Lord! He is also concerned with each detail of our lives.

There are many Scriptures which mention anointing oil or the act of anointing kings and priests with oil, which is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. The anointing is symbolic of the indwelling Holy Spirit who enables Christians to serve the Lord. "Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head, and anoint him." (29:7). The Christ is Greek for the Hebrew title The Messiah (The Anointed One). From the first promise of a Deliverer in Genesis 3:15, through the promise of God's special Prophet (Deuteronomy 18:15) and King (Psalm 2:1-9), the Israelites looked for The Anointed One to deliver them from oppression.

After the Lord spoke with Moses once again regarding the Sabbath He then gave him two tablets of stone containing His commandments, and rules for everyone including priests, written by God himself. "Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God." (31:16-18).

God has provided us with just one book, the Holy Bible, as the source of understanding His will for us. We need to be faithful in our reading and studying of God's Word. All the answers and help you need to get you through any obstacle is right there. Just call on the Lord and He will lead you there.

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the Laver (Exodus 30:18). Jesus Christ is the holder and the dispenser of the oil we need to be annointed with and cleansed from sin.

Today's Psalm: 23:5
"Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over."

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Help me to remain faithful to You and your calling upon my life. Strengthen and grow my faith as I daily search Your Scriptures and apply their truths to my spiritual walk. As I go through the trials and experiences of my earthly journey would You fix my eyes and my ever-wandering heart upon Jesus. When the howling winds and forceful storms of this life attempt to shipwreck my faith may they instead prove my faith to be more than sufficient to withstand the continual assaults from the enemy. Because I take refuge in Jesus my spiritual foundation is firm, always dependable, and leads me to glorious victory. In Jesus' name, I pray......Amen.

Have a wonderful, peaceful  day/night.
God Bless,
Christina

Today's Bible Study: The Ultimate Sacrifice

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Saturday January 26, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read Exodus 26-28. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the directions given for constructing the Tabernacle, the plans for the altar; and Aaron's priestly garments.

God gave the pattern for the Tabernacle in detail, nothing could be added or left out. It clearly speaks of the person of Christ and the way of redemption through its materials, colors, furniture, and arrangement. (Exodus 25-27).

Just inside the courtyard surrounding the Tabernacle stood the Brazen Altar, also called the Altar of Burnt Offering. Throughout the Bible, brass is symbolic of the judgment of God upon sin. All sacrifices were offered on the Brazen Altar, with its fire which was kindled by a direct act of God and which was never to go out. "All the vessels of the tabernacle in all the service thereof, and all the pins thereof, and all the pins of the court, shall be of brass. And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always. In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel." (Exodus 27:19-21).

In offering an unblemished sacrificial animal, the Israelite understood that the animal's life was being forfeited in his place because of sins he had committed. He knew that it was only through the sinless animal being slain on his behalf that he could maintain a right relationship with God. The worshiper entered the one door into the outer court and approached the Brazen Altar. Then he placed his hands upon his sacrifice to signify his guilt being transferred to the innocent animal.

The high priest was anointed as the mediator between God and the nation of Israel to make atonement for them in order to be reconciled to God. He took the atoning sacrificial blood of animals before the Lord into the Holy of Holies and sprinkled it on the Mercy Seat. "And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons. And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty. And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office." (28:1-3). Aaron foreshadowed the blood of Jesus Christ that cleansed us from all sin.

However, all this was replaced by our Lord, Jesus Christ's sacrificial offering of His body. Since the crucifixion, bodily resurrection, and ascension of Christ, both Jews and Gentiles have but one God-appointed means of maintaining a relationship with Him.

Every person except Jesus has a sinful nature, even the high priest. The best efforts of all mankind, as well as our thoughts, are a mixture of good and bad and therefore imperfect. But in Christ, our High Priest, we see the Perfect, Absolutely Sinless One. "But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." (Hebrews 9:11-12)

The genuineness of one's faith will be evidenced by one's response to Jesus who said: Take up his cross daily (Luke 9:23) for faith without works is dead (James 2:20). Upon recognizing our spiritual shortcomings we can daily pray: Forgive us our sins as we have forgiven the ones who have sinned upon us.

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the Brazen Altar, which upon the sin sacrifice was burned (Exodus 27:1-8). Jesus' sacrifice was the fulfillment of all Old Testament sacrifices.

Today's Psalm: (86:5)
"For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee."

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Today we pray for the members of our family and friends that are lost or who have strayed away from you. It tears us apart to know that our loved one is going through life without having a relationship with you. Ultimately, it's his/her choice whether or not to follow you, and we know that you're not going to force them to believe, but we thank you that you desire a relationship with them. We pray that you would bring them into a position where the choice is obvious, where they are hurting, and where they know that you're there for them if they'll only ask for your love and forgiveness. In Jesus name, I pray.....Amen.

Have a great day/night.
God Bless,
Christina

Today's Bible Study: Blessings Through Obedience

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Friday January 25, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read, Exodus 23-25. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the Laws instituted; three feasts which must be kept; an angel promised for a guide; and instructions for Tabernacle furnishings.

Of all sins, some of the vilest are committed with the tongue. God commanded the Israelites not to spread lies nor judge a person by what is heard. "Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment: Neither shalt thou countenance a poor man in his cause." (Exodus 23:1-3). This means more than repeating gossip or slander. The Hebrew word also means that a person should refuse to even listen to slander. Slander is perhaps the easiest, most subtle sin a person commits; yet, it is so wicked that it is listed with the seven most abominable sins that God hates (See Proverbs 6). By gossiping, some have not only destroyed the good reputation of others but their own usefulness to God as well.

The Israelites were commanded: Serve the LORD your God. This was followed by 14 blessings which God promised them for their obedience. "And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil. I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee. " (23:25-27). A warning concerning the Canaanites followed, make no agreement with them. "Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee." (23:32-33). The people responded, "we will obey the commands of the Lord". "And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do." (24:3).

God alone determines what is acceptable conduct as well as worship to Him Thus, He gave Moses detailed instructions for building the Tabernacle (church) where He would accept the worship of His people that was according to His Word. The Tabernacle provided a way for man to maintain a right relationship with the Lord and to worship Him. But most importantly, it was a place for God to dwell among His people. You may be surprised to know that almost all our laws in America that are beneficial to "mankind" came from the laws God gave the Israelites.

Three very important feasts and the pattern of the Tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant are all symbolic of Christ and His relationship with believers today. Again, the Lord gloriously provides the Spirit of Truth for the protection, care, and guidance of His people. All who put their complete trust and faith in Jesus learn obedience and arte blessed. Instead of falling into addictions and depression when faced with struggles they are at peace knowing that Jesus will pull them through and He does.

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as the Ark of the Covenant (Testimony).(Exodus 25:10-22). The wood demonstrated His humanity; the gold overlay represented His deity. Only through His blood sprinkled on the Ark could one receive forgiveness.

Today's Psalm: 55:18
"He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me."

Today's Prayer: From Psalm 39
Dear Lord,
I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred. My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue, LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am. Lord, eliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish. Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more. In Jesus' name, I pray.....Amen.

Have a wondeful day/night and weekend.
God Bless,
Christina

Today's Bible Study: The Ten Commandments

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Thursday January 24, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read Exodus 20-22. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the Ten Commandments.

The Ten Commandments are very sacred because they were written with the finger of God (Exodus 31:18). They are an expression of the spiritual and moral conduct that God requires of each person. Eight are expressed, You shall not. Six present requirements for our relationship with others. Four reveal the perfection of the holy, One True God, Who alone is to be worshiped.

"1And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (This includes person or thing that takes place over God)
4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. (To make sculptures in the likeliness of God, heaven, or hell)
5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; (The sculptures). And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. (swearing in God's name)
8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. (The sabbath day is Saturday, however some people are required to work on Saturday's, even Jesus did. God commanded six days of work and one day of rest therefore one day out of your week is to be completely devoted to God.)
12Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13Thou shalt not kill.
14Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15Thou shalt not steal.
16Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. (Do not lie about others)
17Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. (To desires someone elses wife, husband, or possessions)"(Exodus 20:1-17)

Commandments are of utmost importance since they were given to us by our Creator, the One True God, who gives instructions for what is best for His creatures and who alone is to be worshiped. It is no surprise that those who hate and reject God also hate to see His commands displayed. However, they are essential, basic principles for the spiritual and moral conduct of mankind. Without them we have no standard of right and wrong.

We are warned that it is wrong to steal, whether it is done by shoplifting, cheating on income tax, or failing to give an employer an honest day's work. It is wrong to bear false witness against a neighbor, and it is wrong to commit adultery with them. However, obedience should come from the heart,  If I love my neighbor, I will not steal his property, commit adultery with his wife, or commit fornication with his daughter. I will protect and respect his loved ones because they belong to God.

As sacred and perfect as the Ten Commandments are, Christ revealed that a person can keep all these commandments from his youth up (although no one but Jesus ever has)and yet lack the one thing needful to inherit eternal life. Many have thought they would get to heaven by being good,  but they are unwilling to recognize that we have all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Therefore, Jesus came to be the living sacrifice that enabled us to inherit eternal life. No one can get to heaven without Jesus. "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10).

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as through the Ten Commandments. He was perfect and without sin. He also gave us a new Commandment, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another (John 13:34).

Today's Psalm: 19:8
"The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes."

Today's Prayer:
Jesus, we thank You that salvation comes from You alone. Thank you that You are enough. We would come up far short if we relied on our good works, our charming personality, our status in life or our worldly accumulation to purchase our salvation.  You are the sinless Lamb of God, the only acceptable sacrifice to God, who provides salvation to every man, woman, boy and girl from every region on the face of this earth who call upon Your name.  Keep reminding us that we cannot earn our salvation because You give it freely.  We choose to receive Your gift of salvation through faith in You, Jesus Christ our Lord.  And we are intensely grateful for Your merciful compassion toward us.  In your mighty name Jesus', I pray.....Amen.

Have a great and wonderful day/night.
God Bless,
Christina

Jesus Said: It's Time to Forgive

It's Time to Forgive (01.23.08)

"Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." (Luke 6:36-38 KJV)

Some days it is not easy being a Christian. No matter what you try to do to remain positive and stay away from people and things that tempt and trouble you it does not happen, it is as if they find you. Then all of a sudden that positive outlook turns to anger, hurt, and want. The devil now has us under his control and we begin to criticize others and gossip about them, we lose sight of God and are tempted to make them feel as bad as we are feeling. Sometimes we even resort to doing ungodly things to make our flesh feel better.

However, God is a forgiving God and will always forgive us of all of our sins as long as we are sincere in our asking and work on trying to overcome those continous sins. Trust me, I just had one of those days last Sunday, I was so upset by a comment that someone made to me that I became angry and began taking my anger on those around me. On top of that I got depressed and wanted to fall into temptation, I was even looking for it. However, I went to church and put my focus on God and overcame my emotions.

Jesus has given us some commandments to follow in regards to people who cause strife in our lives. To judge not, meaning not to form an opinion of someone, to condemn not, meaning not to declare someone unchangeable, and to forgive them. Now, I understand that it is truly hard to forgive some people, but unless we make that first move we will never overcome our struggles. Anger, hurt, and bitterness can cause so many things to happen. Immorality, substance abuse, and violence are only a few actions that become habits if we do not forgive those who have hurt us.

We all have faults and those who continue to live in sin are scared and sometimes just plain stubborn, they do not want to give up their wordly lives for fear that they will be alone or lose their popularity. When we are faced with difficult people we are to learn from them and stand firm in our faith in God. Only God can give us the peace of mind we need to overcome all these emotions that cause us to fall into ungodly habits.

Now, I know at times you will see people and think, "Oh, my God!" and wonder why they continue to do what they do. That is different than judging and condemning someone, judging and condemning someone is being hateful toward them and seeing them as less than you. We have no ideal what people are going through or why they behave the way they do, often they are hurting and lost, and are in great need of Jesus. We have been there, maybe not as severe, but we have been judged and condemned when others have seen or heard about something that they made their own conclusion of.

We can not do much about them, but the best thing we can do is pray for them and try to guide them toward God. If they hate you and cause you pain God will take care of you. He will never let anyone that hurt you get away with it. Remebmer, whatever is given by you is received whether it is good or bad. So, those who hurt you will receive the same, you may not see it yourself, but it will happen.

Trust in the Lord, it is time to forgive those who have hurt you, it is time to forgive yourself. Turn your pain into comfort as you release the control of those negative emotions.

God Bless and peace be with you.

Today's Bible Study: God's Treasures

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Wednsday January 23, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read, Exodus 17-19. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the continuing murmuring by the Israelites against Moses, water from the rock; Amalek's defeat; Jethro's advice; and God speaking at Mount Sinai.

As they continued their journey toward the promised land, the Israelites faced another test of their faith in God. Yet instead of putting their faith in Him they murmured against Moses and tested God's power. "And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink. Wherefore the people did chide with Moses (put blame on him), and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD? And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst? And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go. Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?" (Exodus 17:1-7). The Lord knew that there was no water there so He purposefully directed the Israelites to that very place to test their faith and once again they failed to trust Him.

The wilderness journeys exposed the Israelites' refusal to trust the Lord like so many today who complain about their circumstances. Israel's release from bondage and the wilderness journey is symbolic of the Christian's pilgrimage through life. From their experiences, we should learn to trust God even when anticipated resources are not available. Just as the Israelites blamed Moses, we are tempted to blame others. Frustration on the job, emotional stress, discontent, and finding fault with uncomfortable situations is, in reality, expressions of distrust in the wisdom, competence, and goodness of God.

God, always knows what is best and promised Israel His blessings and a secure future if they would keep its part of the Covenant. God spoke to Moses at Mount Sinai about His promise and assured the people if they only put their trust in Him that they will be blessed and taken care of. "In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai. For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount. And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself. Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him. And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD." (19:1-8)

Just think! Our Creator said to the poor Hebrew slave, ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me, meaning that they were special and valuable to Him. The insignificant former slaves were helpless, but, the Lord promised to bestow upon them His love, guidance, and provision, and make of them a holy nation. They would have the precious privilege of performing the highest service as a kingdom of priests and the distinction of being a peculiar treasure unto God. Today, He has extended His royal proclamation even to all who receive Christ as Savior and Lord regarding this unique relationship He once offered to Israel. We are God's precious, special treasures and will be blessed just as He promised the Israelites.

The Christian's faith is not based on favorable circumstances, but on our all-wise Creator. The key to peace in the midst of life's problems is confidence in His Word. Daily blessings are available only from His voice as recorded in the Bible. There are no substitutes for His only inspired Written Word. We may receive some help from preachers, teachers, books, and other sources; but none compare to the Holy Spirit who reveals His will in the inspired Holy Bible. We gain wisdom and strength growing out of a personal relationship with God as we daily read through His Word.

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as both the Rock and the Water that came out of it. (Exodus 17:6). Jesus Chirst is our Rock and the Living Water for all who are thirsty. He alone can quench the thirst we truly long for.

Today's Psalm: (1:3)
"And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

Today's Prayer: Psalm 23
Dear Lord,
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. In Jesus' name, I pray.....Amen.

Have a wonderful day/night.
God Bless,
Christina

Today's Bible Study: Trust in God's Will

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday January 22, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read Exodus 14-16. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the Crossing the Red Sea; the song of Moses; the waters of Marah; murmurings; manna and quail,

The will of God was clearly revealed to the Israelites in Egypt as God was in the process of fulfilling His promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Finally the Israelites were freed from Egypt, however Pharoh went after them. They had traveled only a short distance when they saw all the chariots of Pharaoh's army rushing toward them in a desperate effort to recover his slaves. "And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon. And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD." (Exodus 14:8-10).

But when the Israelites cried out to the LORD, it was not in faith, but in fear, hostility, and criticism toward Moses. "And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. " (14:11-14).

God miraculously met their need, He caused the Red Sea to be divided which allowed them to escape to the other side of the land and when the chariots chased after them the sea collapsed and all the men and horses drowned. "And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night. And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore." (14:19-23, 26-30).

What joy and excitement filled the camp at the news that refreshing water was discovered! Then the song of Moses was sung to celebrate the miraculous deliverance from Egypt and to anticipate reaching the promised land. (15:1-19). However that did not last long, once again, the people complained against Moses, exposing their lack of faith. "And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness: And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger. Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God. And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat." (16:2-5,11-15). Although God had clearly revealed His will to lead them to the promised land, they continually expressed their unbelief. Their faith in God's Word never went beyond the next obstacle.

The Lord still leads His faithful children through circumstances of apparent defeat through which they learn the uselessness of human reasoning and how to wait upon Him for further direction. Your disappointments are God's appointments for His blessing. As soon as the child of God is persuaded of God's will opposition will arise, often wholly unexpected. Satan, the enemy of man's soul, will attempt to prevent the accomplishment of God's will. However, in times of uncertainty, we need to seek the Lord's guidance rather than depending upon our own changing emotions or the uncertain circumstances around us.

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the bread (manna) falling from heaven (Exodus 16:15). Jesus said: I am the Living Bread Who came down from heaven. (John 6:51)

Today's Psalm: (37:3)
"Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed."

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing me with a new day and thank you for the many blessings you have given me so far today. Lord, thank you for being such a gracious God. Forgive us of our sins, Father. Jesus, wash us white as snow. Thank you for your mercy and grace upon us, no matter what we do You love us and never forsake us.Help us to daily turn away from the ways of this world, our own ways, and turn toward you and your ways. In Jesus' name, I pray.....Amen.

Have a wonderful day/night and may your day be filled with an abundance of unexpected blessings.
God Bless you,
Christina

Today's Bible Study: The Lord's Passover

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Monday January 21, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read Exodus 11-13. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the final plague, the Lord's Passover; the Exodus; a pillar of cloud and a pillar of fire.

Each miraculous plague proved that Egypt's gods were false deities and that the One True God controls His creation. The final plague of judgment was death. "And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether. Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver and jewels of gold. And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people. And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts." (Exodus 11:1-5).

There was no family that was good enough that it did not need the blood applied -- no, not even Moses' or Aaron's. This was their only hope of deliverance from the death angel. God had only one plan and His divine Command had to be obeyed. However, God provided a way for all of the Israelites who were obedient to Him to save their firstborn from death. They were required to sacirfice a lamb, "Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire. And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's passover. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt." (12:5-13).

The Hebrew word translated atonement carries the idea of covering something, thereby removing it from God's sight. However, even though an innocent lamb made a temporary atonement, sin was not fully eradicated. Although there were daily and monthly sin offerings, the Israelites were still required to annually observe a full Day of Atonement.

Today, we are blessed as Jesus became the only true Sacrificial lamb and died for the sins of the world so we do not have to complete this ritual every year. Praise Jesus!

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as the sacrifice of lambs without blemish. Not one of the lamb's bones was to be broken (Exodus 12:5,46). We were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Today's Psalm: (25:5)
"Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing me with this day and thank you for the many blessings you give me each day. Jesus, we thank You that salvation comes from You alone. Thank you that You are enough. In Your Mighty name, Jesus', I pray......Amen.

Have a wonderful day/night. May you be blessed with a wonderful week.
God Bless,
Christina

Today's Bible Study: Do Not Compromise

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Sunday January 20, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus. Please Read Exodus 8-10. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the 10 plagues and God's protection over His people.

Moses tried and tried to reason with Pharoh to release the Israelites to no prevail. While God was in the process of delivering the Israelites to freedom, the Egyptians suffered through each of the ten plagues, but the plagues did not affect the Hebrews at all. Through all the turmoil in the land not one Israelite was harmed. Even Pharaoh's magicians recognized Who was in control. "And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man, and upon beast. Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said." (Exodus 8:18-19).

Finally after the Egyptian's pleaded with Pharoh he released them from captivity. However, he wanted only the men to go with Moses to sacrifice to God, but the little ones, women, and the aged were to remain in bondage."And Pharaoh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed? And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go? And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD. And he said unto them, Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you. Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence." (10:7-11). The commands of God are supreme and nonnegotiable. The children of God must not compromise. We have but one God and are to yield to none other. Moses, as the servant of God, would not yield to Pharaoh's offer to compromise and did what God commanded until the Israelites were released.

A person is deceived who believes he can worship the Lord on his own terms. Others who are equally deceived say they will live for Jesus later in life and, like Pharaoh, refuse to give up control of their lives, only to fall when they least expect it. However, those who do not compromise will see light through the darkness. No matter what happens to the world around you you are a child of God and He will not let you dwell in darkness. "And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings." (10:21-23)

What does this mean to the individual today who would be delivered from Pharaoh's (Satan's) power? He must be willing to make a complete break from the world and forsake his sins by simply trusting the Risen Savior for cleansing power. The cross that ended the physical life of Jesus put an end to the power of Satan to control the sinner. The power that raised Christ from the dead now enables the believer to live a new life with Christ.

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as Light to His people. Jesus said: "I am the Light of the world: he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness." (John 8:12).

Today's Psalm: (18:28)
"For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness."

Today's Prayer: (From Psalm 18:1-3)
Dear Lord,
I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. In Jesus' name I pray......Amen.

Have a wonderful day/night and God Bless you......Christina

Today's Bible Study: Obedience & Trust

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Saturday January 19, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus, Please Read Exodus 5-7. For those of you who have been following from the beginning I have decided to make the title more warm and inviting instead of just Bible chapters. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Moses' demands to Pharaoh; Aaron speaking for Moses; Moses' rod turning into a serpent; and a plague of blood.

God commanded Moses to face the Pharaoh of Egypt, who referred to himself as a god. He was not free to decide what portion of the commands of God he would speak; he was to tell Pharaoh all that God had commanded him. "And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go. And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence (a plague), or with the sword." (Exodus 5:1-3).

Pharaoh persisted in keeping the Israelites under his cruel authority. Moses' first reaction was to question God on why the people are suffering if they are His people. "And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, LORD, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all." (5:22-23).

The Lord answered, "Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land. And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: 6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians." (6"1-2,6-7).

And as it had been foretold, the pestilence of God was poured forth on each false Egyptian deity, on every household of the Egyptians, on Pharaoh's son and, eventually, on Pharaoh himself and his armies. "And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land. And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them." (7:1-5)

How often in life do our questions far out number our answers: Why have I been diagnosed with cancer? Why did my husband divorce me? Why did my child become a drug addict? Why was my child born with handicaps? Why did I lose my job? Why? God didn't answer Moses' questions, and seldom does He answer us in the way we expect. However, God will assure you that He is your God and will take care of you. Many times we are faced with difficultties in order to learn to trust and obey God. When you have faith in God to trust and obey Him no matter what you a faced with mountians are moved.

In today's Lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as our Redeemer from the bondage of sin. I will bring you out and I will redeem you (Exodus 6:6). We are blessed in Jesus Christ as He has redeemed us from the curse of the Law.

Today's Psalm: (9:10)
"And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee."

Today's Prayer: Psalm (18:1-3)
I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Have a great and wonderful day and weekend.

Christina

Jesus Said: I Know What You Worship

I Know What You Worship 01.18.08

"Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he." (John 4:21-26)

The word worship means love and devotion given to deity (God), an idol, or a sacred object. There are so many different religions and churches that it is no wonder people want to stay as far away as possible from them. The truth is that anyone can set up a church or follow a paticular religion, but many will get caught up in the world and instead of worshipping the Father, they worship false gods, the gods of money, fame, possessions, and lust.

I grew up in a Catholic church and even though I never understood everything that was said I tried to follow their teachings. I grew away from the church as a result of disbelief as I felt nothing I ever did was right in the sight of the Lord nor would I be able to receive His forgiveness if I did not give all my money to the church. Now, I know I am not sinless and I learned that in order to recieve blessings from God I needed to be willing to give than to receive, but am I that evil that God could never forgive me and accept me a child who wants to live for Him. Well, years passed and God spoke to me about going back to church, this time I chose a non-demoninational church. In the beginning it was a small family oriented church and it was great, but it began growing and eventually a new church was built to hold the people. Once the church grew other priorities took place and instead of a church we had a stadium.

Now I am not knocking other religions or churches, but I am going to say that no matter what church or religion we follow unless we know the truth we are wasting our time. The truth is that Jesus came to this earth to teach us how God wanted us to be, He became the pure lamb of sacrifice, shed His blood and died for our sins, then He arose three days later to give us eternal life. No religion, church, or person can change that and certainly no amount of fame or money can buy it's way to eternal life.

All those who are true children of God know this and will not worship these material things. Even King Solomon acknowleged to the world that without God all is vanity thousands of years before Jesus preached this. Jesus tells us that God is a Spirit and to worship Him we are to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. This means that by accepting Jesus His Holy Spirit dwells in you and shows you the truth. Therefore, we are to worship Him and only Him in spirit (inner being) and in truth that we believe in the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Today's Bible Study: Exdous 2-4

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Firday January 18, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the boook of Exodus. Please Read Exodus 2-4. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the early life of Moses; his flight into Midian; the burning bush; his commission to free the nation of Israel; and his return to Egypt.

Today we will read of the birth of Moses and the amazing things that took place in order for him to grow up in the palace. "And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months. And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink. And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it. And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children. Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee? And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother. And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the women took the child, and nursed it. And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water." (Exodus 2:2-10).

Now, Moses, the son of Israelite slaves, was enjoying the luxury of the Egyptian . palace. It bothered him to see his people suffering and one day when he saw an Egyptian man beating a Hebrew man he waited until no one was around and killed him. "And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren. And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand. And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow? And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known. Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well." (2:11-15).

Moses was 40 years old when he executed the Egyptian and for 40 years he dwelt in the land of Midian. "Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt." (3:1-10). It must have seemed to Moses a waste of 40 years to do nothing of importance. But, with the Lord, such time is never wasted. Moses could never have developed humility or been able to come closer to God in an Egyptian palace where he was too busy and too important. But both experiences were vital in preparing him to be the person God could use to lead His people out of Egypt, through the desert, and on to the borders of the promised land.

The wisdom of the world cannot qualify us to make right decisions in life We must be taught by the Holy Spirit through reading and obeying His Word. It is the Holy Spirit's anointing on what we do and say that makes our lives worthwhile. Like Moses, our greatest need is the removal of self-sufficiency. It was spiritually necessary for Moses to tend sheep on the backside of the desert to eliminate self-will and fully yield to God's will.

We are in a hurry to produce results with our abilities but God is more concerned with one's preparation in the school of submission and obedience to His Word even when faced with the impossible. You will see that Moses became a great leader of his people because he faithfully obeyed God.

There is only one way that we can experience Christ as Lord and Master of our lives, simply by obeying Him. Obedience means that we personally, day by day, submit to the whole counsel of God as it is revealed in His Word. This can only be done as we read His Word.

Today's Psalm: (33:11)
"The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations."

Today's prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing me with an new day and thank you for the  many blessings your give me each day. Lord, we love you so much and want to follow your will, but all too often we lose our focus on You when the pressures of life get to us. Lord, calm our minds, relax us and help us to focus our attention solely on you right now. Help us to tear down any barriers that we've built up that are keeping you from fellowshipping with us. Lord, we want to be close to you. We want to feel your hand at work in our lives. Pour the power of Your Holy Spirit upon us, Lord and help us to see the path you have us on and to accept your will as our own. We're tired of fighting and tired of trying to make it on our own. We're your servents, Lord. We give ourselves to you freely. In Jesus' name, I pray.......Amen.

Have a great and wonderful day/night. May you have a relaxing and Spirit filled weekend.

God Bless,
Christina

Today's Bible Study: Genesis 49- Exdous 1

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Thursday January 17, 2008 and today we are completing our studies on the book of Genesis and begining our studies on the book of Exodus. Please read, Genesis 49-50 & Exodus 1. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Jacob's prophecies; the deaths of Jacob and Joseph; and the Hebrews are oppressed in the land of Egypt.

Just prior to his death, Jacob foretold an amazing prophetic future of each tribe. "And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father." (Genesis 49:1-2). Although he was not the firstborn, Judah was destined to continue the Abrahamic Covenant with its promise of the Messiah. "Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be." (49:9-10). Judah emerged as the powerful leader of Israel and one who was feared by his enemies as a lion. Added to this, he was to hold the sceptre of legislative control over the other tribes until Shiloh come. Shiloh means "Peacemaker," and is commonly accepted to be a name or title for the Messiah.

Throughout the Scripture, God reveals His wonderful plan of salvation through Christ our Savior, and as we look forward to His glorious return our hearts are thrilled.

Following the death of Jacob, Genesis comes to a close on a note of impending bondage as it also records the death of Joseph. "So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt." (50:26)

The Book of Exodus:
The book of Exodus was written by Moses to the people of Israel. There are 40 chapters contained in the book and the purpose of it is to record the deliverance of Israel from slavery and to document their purpose for existence as a nation. The word Exodus means, a going out; a departure or emigration, usually of a large number of people.

After Joseph's death, the prestige the Israelites had enjoyed in Egypt gradually disappeared. There arose up a new king over Egypt who felt no obligation to the descendants of Joseph. He was fearful of the Israelites' growing numbers and tried to afflict them as a means to slow down their growth only to have they multiply even more. "And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them. Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel." (Exodus 1:7-12).

Desperate for an answer to his dilemma, Pharaoh demanded of the Hebrew midwives if a woman bares a son they are to kill them. "And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive." (1:15-17).

Sometime after this horrifying edict was issued the birth of Moses took place. If it had not been for Pharaoh's cruel edict, Moses would never have been rescued by Pharaoh's daughter and given all the advantages of the world's greatest empire of that time. God was preparing Moses, although he was unaware, to lead the Israelites to the promised land.

We too may face suffering where we seem to be under the control of a situation where we are as powerless as the Israelites were. It could be that death has left us without a parent or spouse. We may feel defeated following the breakup of our family or have received a terminal diagnosis from a doctor. We all will face many unforeseen sorrows. Still, every Christian can say, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39).

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as the Shiloh (Messiah) who would come through the tribe of Judah.

Today's Psalm: (55:22)
"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."

Today's prayer:
Dear Lord,
In the maze of life's events where we're often a passenger on the rollercoaster of life's ups and downs, may we never lose sight of You, Jesus. You are the unseen but ever-present Shepherd who protects, guides and tenderly comforts us in all our trouble. Thank You, Lord, that when change is constantly about us, You remain steadfast, faithful, and dependable. You are the Anchor that keeps us grounded in the unseen but eternal truths we build our lives upon. Keep us faithful and help us to always believe that through trials and suffering You have great plans in store for us. In your mighty name, Jesus, I pray......Amen.

Have a wonderful day/night. Has the week flown by or is it me?
God Bless,
Christina

Today's Bible Study: Genesis 46-48

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Wednesday January 16, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Genesis. Please read Genesis 46-48. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Jacob's vision at Beersheba; the journey to Egypt; Joseph and the famine; the best land given to Jacob; and Joseph's sons are blessed.

Jacob knew that God had planned for his family to live in Canaan, not in Egypt, so he did not rush to Egypt for a grand reunion with his precious son Joseph. Instead, when Jacob left Hebron, he journeyed about 25 miles to Beersheba. Since the will of God remained uppermost in Jacob's heart, he needed assurance from God concerning his journey to Egypt, it was here where Jacob offered sacrifices unto God and received that assurance in a vision. "And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac. 2And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I. And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation: I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes. And Jacob rose up from Beersheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him." (Genesis 46:1-5).

The Lord assured Jacob that the sojourn in Egypt would be a time of preparing his family to become a great nation. What gets priority, and how we live, has a direct bearing on our preparation for eternity. Our eyes should not be set on worldly securities and achievements, but rather on being the person God wants us to be in order to accomplish the purpose for which He created us.

Now, the Israelites settled in Egypt in the land of Goshen, since Joseph had come into Egypt earlier, including him and his family, Jacob's family number was 70 when they came into Egypt. "And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him: His sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt. All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were threescore and six; 27And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten. And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen. And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while." (46:6-7,27-29)

Before Jacob's death he blessed Joseph's sons, "The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth. And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head. And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head. And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations. And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh. And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers." (46:16-21). As the years in Egypt passed, Jacob could see how God had been directing, protecting, and providing for him all his life.

This remarkable man of God received much abuse throughout his life, but God conferred more spiritual blessings on Jacob than any other man in Old Testament history. The name of Abraham, the father of the faithful, appears over 300 times in Scripture. The name Isaac appears only 131 times, often only in conjunction with Abraham and Jacob. Jacob, however, is mentioned over 370 times, and his new name Israel, referring to both himself and his descendants, appears over 2500 times.

The life of Jacob gives the believer insight into the sovereignty of God, who assists, strengthens, and sustains all who are faithful to Him.

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed by Joseph who was placed second to Pharaoh to sustain life and give provision. Jesus said, the Bread of God is He which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. (John 6:33).

Today's Psalm: (89:1)
"I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations."

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing me with this day and thank you for the many blessings you give me each day. Lord, thank you for taking care of us and being sovereign in our lives. Give us peace knowing that we do not have to worry about the future as You will direct our paths and take us where you need us to be. All we need to do if focus on You. We trust You, Jesus. No matter what our circumstances are, we will always have You to see us through it. You are always faithful and love us despite our short comings and sin. Thank you, Jesus for all that You do. In Jesus' name, I pray......Amen.

Have a great and wonderful day/night.
God Bless,
Christina

Jesus Said: Be Not Afraid

01.15.08

"And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God." (Matthew 14:26-33).

Peter knew that he was safe when his eyes were focused on Jesus, but the second he looked down and turned his focus on what was around him he became afraid and began sinking in the water. However, when he realized he was afraid he called on Jesus and He was right there to catch him from the fall.

Whether we are Christian's or not we all are going to face situations or people that will cause fear in our lives. Often fear can become so great that we lose focus on everything around us and become victim to it. Even people that are strong in their faith let fear control them one time or another. However, Christian's have one thing going for them, we have our Great and Mighty Jesus Christ to bring us to victory over what controls us.

I will tell you that I grew up in a rather rough part of town and I learned really quick that if I showed any type of fear that I would be the next victim. However, if I went about my day confident that I was safe, alert, and did not focus on what was around me I was a victor.

Was I always a victor?
No, I have fallen victim to fear. My fear was triggered by falling away from God in order to get a taste of the world. I became a victim of fear over a person, I met a guy who I thought was great and as soon as he knew he got me to trust him he introduced me to his crazy lifestyle. Out of fear that he would leave me I continued to do the things that he wanted me to do even though I knew it was wrong. Then he got arrested and right there God was telling me that He freed me from that bondage, but did I listen, no. I stayed in that bondage for three more years trying to free him and giving up everything I had in order to do so only to sink and fall.

Why did I live in fear for so long?
Because I was afraid of being alone, this man took every bit of confidence that I had and deminished it. I was so afraid to be alone that I was a victim to that fear for five years. I imagine that five years is nothing compared to some people who have been living in fear for years or even decades, God bless you.

How did I become a victor?
I began going to church, I asked God to forgive me and I accepted Jesus into my life once again. The truth is that Jesus was always with me, He was not happy with me, but He was there waiting to catch me from my fall. He let me sink until I realized that I needed Him to catch me. Once I did He caught me and He turned my life around. Of course there are struggles of fear every now and then, but now Jesus yells, "Where is your faith, girl! Be not afraid, you will not fall for I will catch you!"

If you are falling, call on Jesus, no matter what you are going through or what you have done He is right there to catch you. Put your faith in Him and Be Not Afraid, He will turn things around for you.

Today's Bible Study: Genesis 43-45

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday January 15, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Genesis. Please read, Genesis 43-45. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Jacob's sons returning to Egypt for food; Jacob is forced to send Benjamin; and Joseph makes himself known to his brothers.

During the great famine, Jacob was forced to send his sons to Egypt to buy food. As the second most powerful ruler of Egypt spoke to them through an interpreter, they were unaware that he was their brother Joseph whom they had sold into slavery over 20 years earlier.

After questioning them about their family, Joseph had his brothers imprisoned for three days to test and to develop their integrity. During their stay in prison, they recalled how their younger brother Joseph had pleaded with them not to be sold as a slave to the Ishmaelite traders on their way to Egypt. Now, in an Egyptian prison, they humbly confessed what a terrible act of cruelty they had committed. When Jacob's sons returned home without Simeon, he was told of the ruler's demand to bring his youngest son Benjamin to Egypt before they could buy any more food. Jacob was deeply distressed, and said he would not let his son go down with him. However, as their food supply depleted and the famine continued, he had no choice but to let Benjamin return with his brothers to Egypt. (See Genesis 42).

They arrived and Joseph demanded that his brothers come to his home. Imagine their shock when he spoke in their Hebrew language and said that I am your brother. "Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren. And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard. And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence. And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life." (45:1-4).

The graciousness of Joseph's forgiveness may be observed as he diverted their attention from themselves and from any self-condemnation of past sins when he said not to be grieved or be angry with themselves. He was concerned that his brothers enjoy his fellowship and the abundance of God's provisions rather than bring up old past wounds. One of the great needs today among Christians is to demonstrate the spirit of Joseph. When one knows the God as Joseph did it really doesn't matter that we are misunderstood, unjustly maligned, or cruelly abused. We have a strong and All Mighty God that can carry us through and bless us abundantly as we stay faithful to Him.

For years, Joseph's brothers had deceived their father and had escaped all accountability for their cruel sin against Joseph. Now they were forced to confess to their father what they had done. "And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father, And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob's heart fainted, for he believed them not. And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived: And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die." (45:25-28).

Although God used their wickedness to fulfill His will, this did not lessen their guilt. But, regardless of how cruel someone has been you must forgive them just as God has fogiven you for your sins. I know it can be hard to forgive someone that hurt you, however, in doing so you will not also be at peace you are giving it all over to God to handle and believe me, God will take care of them for you. God will never forsake His children.

The attitude of this world is revenge when someone offends us, but Jesus teaches us the importance of forgiveness. There are no accidents with God; instead, he moves us according to His purpose for our lives. Avoid the poison of bitterness by realizing the Lord is working through your offenders and your circumstances to express His love.

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through Joseph's dealings with his brothers. Christ deals with us in such a way as to bring about our confession of sin and a recognition of His forgiving love. In a similar way, He reveals His sovereignty over the affairs of life

Today's Psalm: (86:5)
"For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee."

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing me with a new day and thank you for the many blessings you give me. Thank you for being such a gracious God. Forgive us of our sins, Father. Jesus, wash us white as snow. Thank you for your mercy. Daily, we want to turn away from the ways of this world, our own ways, and we turn toward you and your ways. We are your children. We receive your blessings and favor. Please help us to forgive those who have hurt us so that we may accept your blessings. In Jesus' name, I pray.....Amen.

Have a great and wonderful day! May the day be filled with many unexpected blessings.
God Bless you,
Christina

Today's Bible Study: Genesis 40-42

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Monday January 14, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Genesis. Please read, Genesis 40-42. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Joseph interpreting dreams; and Joseph made a ruler over Egypt.

Although Joseph was innocent of any crime, he endured all the shame and punishment of the dungeon with amazing confidence and peace, knowing that the Lord was with him. Thirteen years had passed since Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery. Following that horrifying ordeal, he experienced many pitiful disappointments. Consider his many lonely nights suffering as an innocent prisoner and although Joseph spent many years as a slave he never became bitter. He remained faithful to the Lord.

God was able to accomplish His purpose through the wrath of Pharaoh against two of his officers who were thrown in prison with him. "And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers. And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound. And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward." (Genesis 40:2-4). The men with him had dreams that saddened them and through God Joseph interpreted them, which came true three days later. (See 42:5-23)

Joseph was called to interpret Pharaoh's dreams. "Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it. And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace." (41:14-16) Because the Lord interpreted the dreams through Joseph, Pharaoh acknowledged him as the wisest man in Egypt. (See 41:14-36).

This former outcast then received Pharaoh's own ring as a sign of his new authority as second rul
